VL 298 Share Posted July 13, 2014 According to the Renaming Items section in the Help Menu, renaming items is available to those with bedrock VIP or above. However, Renaming Items is a default Minecraft mechanic since the anvil, so why would it be only available to those who donate? I also have come to wonder if Mojang would even allow servers to restrict default Minecraft Mechanics through money-gaining processes. Disclaimer: I simply want to know for the overall welfare of the server, and not for my own purposes.
InfamousGerman 1553 Share Posted July 13, 2014 There are no experience levels given for killing Mobs so without giving it as a donor reward, there would be no way to rename an item apart from modreq'ing for a GM.
VL 298 Author Share Posted July 13, 2014 The server could give the command /renameitem as a non VIP option to compensate for the lost default Minecraft Mechanic with the Anvil.
Sporadic 2844 Share Posted July 13, 2014 It's one of the current standing incompatibilities Nexus crafting has brought with it. I am aware of it and am pushing for a fix. Unfortunately it is an incompatibility nestled very deep into the core of the plugin which means fixing it requires rewriting large segments.

My question is if when the plugin is fixed, will it be non-VIP to compensate for the lost default Minecraft Mechanic?

VL 298 Author Share Posted July 14, 2014 no Then I will assume that Mojang doesn't mind the restriction of its default mechanics through donation.
Hiebe 2493 Share Posted July 14, 2014 Then I will assume that Mojang doesn't mind the restriction of its default mechanics through donation. Its not a restriction we just dont have exp drops here so that default mech is gone. We have made it so you can donate for that perk.
VL 298 Author Share Posted July 14, 2014 Its not a restriction we just dont have exp drops here so that default mech is gone. We have made it so you can donate for that perk. And why are there no EXP drops or at least compensation for them or the items that rely on them?
Sporadic 2844 Share Posted July 14, 2014 Then I will assume that Mojang doesn't mind the restriction of its default mechanics through donation. You assume correctly. We are allowed, and in fact are ONLY allowed, to hand out cosmetic VIP perks (cosmetic = does not benefit gameplay). Item renaming is purely cosmetic. We don't change it because it's one of the few really good perks that follows the Mojang policy And if people set up renaming shops ingame that's not our problem... Redbaron™ 690 Share Posted July 14, 2014 And why are there no EXP drops or at least compensation for them or the items that rely on them? Those xp drops also cause extreme amounts of lag, each one of those little balls on the ground might as well be a mob, and with mobs dying all over the map, it's a nightmare.
