Should we make Quenya Elvish the official elf language?

It doesn't make sense for the elves to suddenly speak Quenya. Why would we all learn to be fluent in another language when we have English for easy communication, and LOTC Elven for those who want to explore the culture a bit more?

mfw this thread  :ok:

mfw 93% against  :mmm:

Also, everyone is allowed to submit new Elven words they need or could use, either with a suggested elven equivalent or not. This has always been true since inception, and I've worked with many collaborators over the years. If you need something PM me (or Elindor if you really hate me) or leave a reply on the right threads, I always read them. If you're willing to work as a translator don't feel like you have no input.

Just call it an elven language, separate from the original, that your ancestors have been speaking since the beginning of time due to isolation from the mainstream ancient elven community. Nothing stopping you from making a language, just you can't replace it with the old.

I had made that assumption with really bizarre sounding Dark Elf names(That would not be 'common' or 'elven') for my character's ancestors, although I never pulled another language into the game. Just assumed there must of been a linguistic difference of some sort between typical elf x and ancestor y because ancestor y's name does not fit the language/sound of typical elf x. Although you could argue this is due to an ancient accent or dialect that differed from the mainstream, instead of a new language entirely.

I am on your side though, you have the right to add to the collective lore of lotc as much as anyone. Just you cannot replace lore for lore, that infringes on another's right to create collective lore. You have to make something new. If more people start using it in rp, then it'll be the more "official" language than what's right now.
