A Dwarven Departure

As Lilum Irongut looks back at his home, Hiebenhall, he sheds a single tear. He knows he doesn't have to go now, but it was as if something was pulling at his soul to go out into the world. To go out and experience things for himself and unravel his own mysteries about his past. He turns his head from the gate of Hiebenhall, from the keep that his Clan Father, Balek, built, from the Alchemist tower that stood next to his home, where he first connected to the void, and his own home he built in the early construction of Hiebenhall. At those times, he was an immature Dwarf, acting childish and absent minded for his age. After the arrival of Iblees, he decided to change his ways, change his attitude and out look on life. After that moment, it was the switch that brought him out of his childish shell, to break through his vow of not wanting to fight others, and to to not cry in danger and scream for his Momma or Balek in times of danger.

As he walks, thoughts pass through his mind:

My father, who is or was he? He was an Irongut, but I do not know who he is.

My strength with the void, how far would I be able to go?

My own strength, with my muscles, how much would my small dwarven body be able to hold?

My Momma, where is she? Why did she leave me and tell me to find the Ironguts?

Will I ever be back to see the faces of my clan again?

These thoughts scared him, but he knew that he would have to be strong. Strong enough to be a man, strong enough to rise above his childish behavior, to rise above the limits he himself did not even know existed within him.

As he walks toward the Cloud Temple, he can hear the laughter of the wandering Halflings spanking each other with their shovels, trying to shove it up each other's butts for unknown reason. He also hears the monks nearby, talking to others who have just came out of the cycle of rebirth inside the Temple itself, or simply laughing at each other's jokes.

He passes the inn, out towards the main roads. He hears the sound of the Uruk nation, the sound of Goblins, Ologs, and Orcs fighting, bathing, eating halflings and parents, and just those sitting idly by chatting. As he continued to walk on, he sees humans talking to a young elven girl on the road. They keep asking her if there are any others nearby and if she has any parents. Lilum thought to himself,

"I should do something."

But he doesn't. He takes a detour into the trees, slightly glancing at the stone tower jutting out from a wooden base as he walks past the humans and elven girl. He continues onto the main road, he stops, glancing up the steps toward Kal'Agnar, remembering his first time within those walls, the first time he talked to Hogarth, the Irongut who helped him find Balek and the rest of the clan. He smiles, shedding another small tear, and continues on. As he walks on, thoughts of past events in the capital go through his head.

The time when he hid in Hogarth's home when the screaming of a new king was being yelled.

The time where he helped Balek mine out the clan hall for the library.

The gathering of many to head out to the Orc nation for the attack on the High Elves.

The time where he gathered in the capital for an expedition into the mountains lead by Dizzy.

Among many other thoughts far and in between relating to the place continue to fill his mind, when he finally notices he is on front of the Elven city. He glances at it, remembering the events that transpired a few days ago. Iblees was in league with the high elves to help defend their city, so he can have a foot hold farther into the descendant's territory, and as a trade, the High Elves can continue oppressing those around them. That was what he had heard from many dwarves after the battle there, and Lilum himself believes them, for what other reason could his kin lie like that?

Lilum continues down the road, not knowing what is at the end of it, but he continues. He passes settlements, created by those who wished to be left alone within their own societies, he also passes places that are a mystery to him.

He continues to walk, continuing even when the road is no more. Into the sunset he goes, as he continues walking forward into the great unknown, small glints of light can be seen on the sides of him.

Tears.

He hopes he can return, just one day. To show others his new magical arts, that of geomancy. Along with hopefully a bigger physique. Along with great intelligence.

Goodbye, my friends, my family, I'll miss you all.

I love you.

More sparkles of light can be seen from his side, and as he travels over a hill, he is no longer in sight.
