The Purge

Written by: Ostromir and Tuvya Carrion

The Purge

Tuv, Morning of Lordas, Abresi

The day had begun like any other for the Bastard of Abresi, dealing with the daily nuisances that plagued his city. Another man requesting a plot, more trade contracts, and of course, the never ending complaints. He sat at his desk within the Treasurer’s manor, stamping out some more permits when his daily routine was abruptly interrupted by Silus Iullius Horen, the King of Renatus. The scarred King bore an expression of deep malice, saying nothing as he slapped a short document upon the desk, a rare act of expression from the King who so desired to hide his emotions. A startled Tuv begun to read over the document while Silus simply stood there, curious as to what so disconcerted his Lord, eyes widening as he continued through the document. Tuv set the paper down after reading once, catching the glare of the King. They looked at each other a long moment, Silus speaking with his eyes, before the bastard stammered out what he could..

“I-its… treason, my King, High Treason...”

“I know that” replied the King in his oh-so-matter-of-fact tone “What will be done about it?”

Tuv looked to the paper, back to Silus, then resting his gaze on the paper before speaking coldy

“It will be handled.”

Silus looked into the bastards eyes, as if to judge his sincerity, then shortly nodding “I trust in you, Goldman. I will be waiting in the Palace.” he spoke before abruptly leaving Tuv in the silence of his office.

Tuv sat there a long while, before rising up and pouring himself a glass of Carrion Black™, then dispatching for one of his many under-treasurers.

“Bael, send for my little brother if you would. I would speak with him.”

Otto, Mid-morning of Lordas, the Krelmstad

Otto had only just returned for his venture to Salvus, sitting within the Hallski. His mind has been racing with the Orc’s advance of Salvus.

“Your Majesty?” A voice cracked, beating Otto from his dreamstate, it was Maric; his loyal adviser.

Otto nodded back to Maric, stepping forward. “Da.” he said, standing to return to the Carrion throne. “Tuv has sent for us to raise our levies, and march for Abresi.” he says, leaning his head on his hand. “We will march within the night.” he added, a slight grin forming on his face.

Otto, Noon of Lordas, Abresi Palace

The throne room of Renatus had been solely populated by the Strelts and Renatian Guards when Adorellan Kamura and Kais Ishiwaka arrived.

“Step towards the throne.” the King Silus demanded, as the two stepped towards him.

“You have been brought here to take part in the trial of crimes against Renatus, Her King, and Her People.” Otto fronted, standing near the throne. “What have you say in defense?”

The two stood, shocked at the sudden change of footing. Only the week ago, they had been called as friends to the crown. “I did it for my people.” Kais added, admitting his part in the plot.

“And what of you, Duke Kamura?” Silus asked.

“I granted the Duchy to the Hochmeister.” he said, almost snarling.

“Than you will still be tried, for your unlawful transferment of land.” Otto replied, intent on trying the two.

At the very same moment, Kais drew his sword. Slicing at Adorellan’s neck, killing him if not instantly. The men of the room flocked to Kais, tackling holding him down.

“Let me end my life, honorably. Not at a public hanging.”

Tuv, Afternoon of Lordas, Yamamoto

“Your blade shall be hung within the museum in memoriam of your services to the Empire, Lord Ishikawa. That much, I will do for you.”

They stood upon the sharp precipice of Yamamoto, a small coalition army of Ruskan Strelts, Knights of Herendul, and simple guardsmen surrounding a lone Kais Ishikawa.

“I thank you, Tuv” spoke Kais before handing over a near ancient katana. “Might one of your men hold a torch in front me? It is part of the ritual.”

That ritual being the act of Seppuku, a foreign sight to these Western men, all looking eagerly upon the traitorous Lord Ishikawa awaiting the easterner to disembowel himself.

Kais drew his tanto, the captive audience falling deadly silent as they awaited the inevitable… before the man threw a small package into the nearby torch, dissipating some sort of gas amongst those closest to the Lord Ishikawa as he took a leap of faith off of the sheer cliff.

“KILL THE BUGGER! SHOOT HIM!” shouts ringed out from the crowd as the thrum of a dozen crossbows scratched the air, the sickening thud of a number of them finding their target.

The bolt riddled Kais Ishikawa splashed into the bay of Yamamoto, quickly being carried off by the tide towards the ocean.

The crowd stood there watching as the presumed corpse of one of the longest serving Lords of Oren drifted onwards, before Tuv spat over the cliff, shouting out

“The Lord Ishikawa is dead! Onwards to Furnestock!”

Otto, Dusk of Lordas, Furnestock

Boulders flew high over the coalition army as the march over Furnestocke continued, the distant crashes and rumbling of buildings collapsing within Yamamato audible to all in Oren.

“Good we got out of there, rebel scum must not realize we are marching on them” thought Otto to himself before the army crested a low hill, beholding the stronghold of the Teutons, their catapults still hard at work flinging destruction towards Yamamoto. They had come here to speak, but it seems the Teutonic Order was hard set on a fight. The army paused a moment before the Crown Prince Ostromir Carrion pointed his blade forwards shouting to the gathered army

“CHARGE! Bring the Hochmeister alive!”

The tide of Ruskans and Renatians alike surged forward, the numerous gates of the stronghold unable to withhold the onslaught delivered by the army. The Teutonic Order put up a mild resistance, the weakness of the Order still evident following their crushing defeat at the Dreadfort by the White Rose. In a final act of desperation, the Teutons fired a ballista at their own bridge, but it was not enough as the valiant Maric and good Bogdan-strelt stormed the final gates, cutting down the light resistance in their way before a rope ladder was arranged by the Winter Prince over the demolished bridge, pushing the beleaguered Teutons behind the final gate of the castle keep. The few Sariants remaining could not hold back the attackers, cut down one by one as the keep was breached, then being set aflame by a number of overzealous strelts.

The brothers Carrion stood side-by-side watching the flames rise as the army plundered and celebrated, neither speaking for a long while, before Maric again broke the silence…

“The Hochmeister has escaped.”

“Very well.” Otto replied before waving off the crusader, again gazing as the main keep begin to collapse upon itself.

“You saved the Empire this day, little brother. I take my leave to Abresi to gather our losses, but there is still much to be done. We will speak with our Lord Father on the morrow.” spoke Tuv before exchanging his farewells, then gathering his entourage and returning to Abresi.

Otto remained for a short while there, before sending his army home. Once alone, the Crown Prince thought in silence about what happened today, before a lone man one might recognize as the Hochmeister of the Teutonic Order approached Otto, the two speaking deep into the night.

The following morning, a edict bearing the Royal Seal of both Ruska and Renatus is distributed about Oren...

By the Grace of the King of Renatus, Silus Horen, The Crown-Prince of Ruska and Renatus Ostromir Sarkozic Carrion, and The Lord Treasurer-Chancellor Tuv Goldman-Chivay-Carrion-Flay-de Sarkozy

The following traitors are hereby revoked of all landed titles, and minor holdings.

  • Duke Alexander Valois

.

  • Marquis Sarrion Pascal

  • Marquis Auvian Valois

  • Countess Amber de Stolistes

  • Viscount Eze'Kiel Tarus II

The above should be treated as traitors to the crown, and enemies of the state until deemed safe by the Crown of Renatus. Should, in the case that the following feel the need to break from their oath and attack the Crown. The Holy Kingdom of Ruska will field a levy and the Kingdom of Herendul will field a levy; both ready to crush the rebels, alongside the Kingdom of Renatus.

It is also noted that the Crown now controls the following holdings.

  1. The Duchy of Furnestock

The Hochmeister accepted the revocation, and now controls a county within the Kingdom of Renatus.

  1. The County of Yamamoto

The Count, Kais Ishikawa accepted the revocation and house Ishikawa no longer holds land within Renatus.

Mirtok wrote that oath, I had no oath save for the bent knee and sword folded downward.
