But, if I torture or imprison them, then they have a reason to return for their vengeance! The more they "lose" the more they are determined to return and bother the citizens, even kill them and me.

I'm not saying that killing is a bad thing, I am just saying that there is much more creative ways of handling a bandit, or psycopath. Instead of making a kill on sight ban.

Have any of you all read any good novels? I hate to be honest, but clothes are to humans in the flesh as forum dressings and manners are to humans on the internet. Ignore the reality that your first impressions do matter and show just how much we've fallen as a supposedly intelligent human race. When you, on the forums, want to put up some picture of a cliche image that makes me wonder if you've ever dealt with good fiction, or in game, want to play some mismatched eye-color fiending [for either sensual RP or being a psychotic nuisance] character - I can't take you serious enough to warrant anything more than an equally simple and monotone reaction.

You want to pout that roleplaying is a cooperative experience. Very well, but you aren't keeping your fair share of the bargain when I explore different choices while you are playing a pouting, anarchical, and cliche character. Why should I waste my good fiction writing skills augmenting your poor attitude both IC and OOC? I don't know if your local libraries have reading competitions over the summer, but you might want to take advantage of that. Why should I bring my ability to write to the table when you [certain ones of you, Ill hope you get the message without playing offended or hurt emotionally] can't go past playing one-dimensional characters for melodrama [thank you Anime!]. What is even funnier is you'll sit here and b*tch at me, making comments about thesaurii, tldrs, and bitching at the detail I provide in realistic roleplay. Are you in to roleplay for the possibility of great fiction to read as I am or are you just here to supersede a cruddy life IRL.

Be honest with yourselves. I have my doubts that this will make any impression as the internet is wont to enable folks to avoid cognitive dissonance, but really. I will kill a one-dimensional character who pity-mongers or acts melodramatic.

PS: Those who speak English as a Second Language are obviously exempt from this criticism. This being said, having helped refugees throughout my recent years, I know just who is ESL and who isn't.

This isn't about eliticism neither. I'm not expecting you all to be overly complex, I'm just hoping you all stop beating the dead horse with cliche, anime-inspired [or otherwise] characters who pity-monger, etc.

So gaius just laid it down pretty damn hard and I cannot help but agree with him to a point. Which point you ask? Oh the point about Anime. I love anime. Leave my anime alone. Seriously though, I do agree.

Sure, go ahead. I wrote this guide under certain specifications, and did not say that killing was not to happen, only that it could be avoided. Personally, I can't stand "pity-mongers" (as you put it) either, so I either avoid them or deal with them when they arrive. I don't see why a whole paragraph was needed, unless it was directed to someone else xD. I'm chill, bro. I'm chill.

Know thyself and you will be free hugo. I don't consider you one of the needed audience of my words, so don't worry. I am also writing from a position of some authority in trying to flesh out Elven RP from the previous stereotyped Google-search-confirmed semi-erotic, unnuanced fiction that has plagued us for quite awhile.

PS: Anime as purely a show to watch? Sure, I can dig it. Trust me, I am just as repugnant against folks using GoT or other sword-wielders' shows for how combat actually worked.

Good luck in fleshing out the Elven RP. You will need it, as it hasn't been done in a long while, and the state it is in only makes it harder. Maybe start by encouraging people to join houses/families that already exist, instead of making a unique one for their "Darlakia Enzio Shadowsbladeassassin" character.

You do realize not everyone is doing that and a good number of Elves outside of Haelunor are in fact practicing some elements of the culture I've fleshed out. I even have Elves citing Lucileh and Asulsae [basically Apollo and Dionysus]. You might do good not to harp on dead-horse-beaten stereotypes that aren't even holding up their weight anymore ;)

Unfortunatly, killing is the only way not to get metaed ICly.

You use that word, metaed, I don't think you know what it means.

metagaming is your character having knowledge they wouldn't be able to know other than from you beaming it into their heads about something...

so if you let someone go.../survive....and they hunt you down, it's not meta....

You don't understand what I meant, my friend. I have seen people, torturing others while wearing a mask and generally hiding how they looked or how they sounded. When these "others" survived, they immediatly went to the torturer.

Yeah this happens often, sadly. When someone survives, they often will 'know' or 'figure out' who their captor was via mc names and other metagaming shtuff. You've been a victim of this, Vamps.

Exactly. And the only way to be... safe, is to kill them, as they could not possibly remember RPly. And if they do, it's enough evidence for a really easy BR.

For certain characters this is a good guide, for other characters its not.
