Letter To The Church

A simple letter is sent to the Church, bearing no particular recipient but containing information on a return address. It reads as follows:

To the Church, whomever may give cultural guidance,

I am writing to obtain cultural information on the current people of Aesterwald, particularly their origins. In my private readings, I have heard mention of a group of people in the previous Oren Empire, a noble family by the name of Sarkozy which I believe managed the duchy of Savoie, a land between the barony of Kralta and the Crownlands. I believe one of the Lords, Hadrien Sarkozy, engaged a daughter of his to marry Siegmund Carrion. I assume the Church has records of this. These people, I believe, spoke with a similar dialect as those of the Sarkozic dynasty.

Are the present people of Aesterwald.descendants of Savoie from Anthos? I ask this because the cultures appear to be similar, and I am still unsure of their origins. Also, after the formation of the Kingdom of Ruska, which I believe contained the duchy of Savoie, would this not make the present people of Aesterwald cousins of the Raevir, in a sense? I ask because I hope to remedy my ignorance.

Sincerely,

Jean

Bishop Kristoff sends a letter back.

"From my understanding Aesterwald is not of Savoyard decent. There are two major noble houses of Savoyard culture, they are the house de Bar and the house de Savoie. If you wish to learn more about the Savoyard people it is better that you come to the town of Leuvaarden, to learn more.

-Bishop Kristoff an humble servant of the Lord."

Daniel pens a response.

"The Waldenians come from a mingling of the Hanseatic and Adunian races and cultures. They are closer to the Teutonics of Hanseti and the exiled Adunians of Urguan/Kaedrin than the Sarkozics, Savoyards, or Raevirs. They are distantly related to the Raevir peoples in the sense that both groups come from the greater Highlander culture group.

While under the reigns of St. Adrian, High Pontiff Lucien I, High Pontiff Owyn I and the exalted Siegmund, the Savoyard and Raevir peoples grew close in bond, a bond that holds-fast to this day. But the Savoyard people, even its Sarkozic, a culture based on the synthesis of Raevir and Savoyard, off shoots, come from the greater Heartlander culture group."
