Why Is Athera Bad?

I see no issues with the current map. I actually quite like it.

Not everybody should have plots to themselves, it just spreads the RP too far out. Asulon was yuck, too big etc etc. Aegis was (amazing) but still yuck, purely because you could almost build where ever you wanted.

 

Not everybody should be a builder.

 

I'd like it if a capital was given a massive area and be told, look, this spot here is for your capital. The empty area around it is for the leader and/or council to decide who gets what land. It would be purely RP to delegate the land. But that's all there would be (not counting wilds and along the main road.)

 

The main road connecting the capitals would be for GMs to delegate out to people who are fantastic builders who have great ideas. Little stalls, camps, and inn every now and then? Stuff like that. But if you want to build your own city? Talk to the elves, I heard that they may have some land spare.

It's not Athera itself that's bad to me, it's the playerbase. We **** on the map, and then ate it, then regurgitated it. 

We can fix it however.

If people weren't too busy arguing about who has the most pixels and IC infamy.

Athera is just plain boring. Most of the RP takes place in a few cities. I dislike the nexus plots thing. Some players just aren't good builders and sort of make the map look a little ugly.

Perhaps a mc generated world with prebuilt cities. No nexus plots. What made Aegis and Asulon (and arguably Kalos and Elyisum) so fun was they were mc generated and fun. Not built purely to be nice To look at. Simply put we don't need to keep spending this much time on a map. Just drop us into a mc world with prebuilt cities. OR the nice 5.0 plan that someone drew up in feedback

Anthos was build for aesthetics. Athera was take the Aegis layout and separation, pretty it up a bit and go.
