XSKip 40 Share Posted March 25, 2015 OOC: Although I'm a noob, I would also like to be someone (hopefully) that could contribute to the orcish culture. As such, I very much enjoy it when a large group of orcs gather and immerse ourselves in culture that you cannot find with the other races. The big building blocks of culture (in my noobish opinion) is that of what they hold important through celebration, festivals, and other such occasions. As orcs, we not only hold war important, but also our ancestors and spirits that guide us. The way that the orc culture is viewed (again, in my opinion) is not only that of a warrior species, but one that is honorable and seeks guidance from the spirits constantly. (Think Thrall Doomhammer from Warcraft 3 and you get the idea.) Sultan_Mogroka had suggested a list of events that occur throughout the week and I feel that not only would it make the orc culture that much more immersive, more people would be willing to play as an orc and enjoy the gameplay. Sometimes it just seems like there isn't stuff going on. I realize that for these events the Rex wouldn't always be present (he's just too darn busy in real life and rp). However, I think it could be possible that clan leaders and both the Dominus-es could help lead. It could even be possible to set it up so that the different shamans rotate turns for each event in order to give experience to the new shamans who are in the shadow of the more well known ones. (No offense to the big guys, you guys are usually the ones who get picked though.) I would really like your feedback and ideas, since with them the orc leadership is not only more likely to institute it, but also consider what they can do to make sure we have a thriving orcish culture and some fun activities to do throughout the week. Without further adu, here's the necro I'm copying. Face the Scaddernak ((Friday 5pm-8pm est)) To appease the Spirit Freygoth, the Orcs gather to the Scaddernack pit to prove their resilience and capability and to gain the respect of the Rex and all others gathered. Those who wish to prove themselves must leap into the Scaddernak’s pit with only a wooden pole for a weapon and face the beast for as long as they are able. Those who last the longest are praised as the boldest and strongest, and great rewards are known to come their way. The Great Hunt ((Every other week on Saturday 5-10pm est)) In praise of Votar, every two weeks the Orcs gather and go on a hunt, led by the Rex through the great desert. The spoils are had at a great feast in celebration of the Spirits and whoever hunts the greatest beast shall receive a boon from the Shamans. The Desert Migration ((Every other week on Sunday 5-10pm est)) In challenge of the mysterious spirit Ramakhet, of the deserts and barren lands, every two weeks the Orcs migrate their nomad camps into the Great Desert, living on the edge of death. Those who fall to the elements are left there to their fate, but those who survive can count themselves a true Orc in the eyes of the spirits and the Rex. Seasons Feast ((On Monday after a great Migration 5-10 pm est)) A feast and celebration is held, catered by the Shamans and blessed by the Immortal Spirit Betharuz. Once the Desert Migration is complete the preparations begin. Battle Arena ((Every week Saturday 5-10 pm Est)) Once every week, the Orcs hold a battle to resolve personal conflicts between Orcs, and to gain new honour and titles with the Rex’s supervision and praise. Those who prove themselves the strongest will be given a blessing by Leyd. The last rider ((Every week Saturday 5-10 pm EST occurs with the Battle Arena)) On a race across the continent, Orcs of all ages and skills race on their mounts of boars, jabbernaks, wolves, rhinos and bulls to be the first to the finish line. Whoever gets there first shall be blessed by by one of the Shamans by appeasing the spirits Ghorza. The Legends speak ((Every week between 5pm est 10pm)) The Orcs gather around campfires and spits, talking and sharing tales of history and valor. The Shamans hold the most attention, but all Orcs may share their feats and boast of their strength, and the best story will be recorded, with the storyteller given an insight from the spirit of knowledge, Kotrestuu. ((More to be added, you can also suggest events)) Thank you all for being willing to read through the incoherent ranting of the inexperienced, and I hope that with this we can make the orc culture even more awesome. Also, first.

XSKip 40 Author Share Posted March 25, 2015 While I'm glad that you're patting me on the back, the purpose of this is to brainstorm some fun ideas for all the orcs to do. If you have any ideas, please put them out! It'll never get done if we don't say anything!

XSKip 40 Author Share Posted March 29, 2015 I guess I was expecting a different response than the usual herd mentality, no offense. I was really hoping that some of 108 of you people who saw this would start thinking of ways to make uruk rp more fun. I guess people are happy with just doing small talk in blah with other orcs? No one wants to have the culture go somewhere? (Sorry, I'm frustrated, but I guess I set up my expectations higher than I should've.)
craotor 617 Share Posted March 29, 2015 Honestly spirit and ancestral rp is some of the best stuff there is for the orks. If you want I can rp as some Lur ancestors during the weekends.
XSKip 40 Author Share Posted March 29, 2015 Honestly spirit and ancestral rp is some of the best stuff there is for the orks. If you want I can rp as some Lur ancestors during the weekends. That's awesome! Thank you. I had just been focusing on more physical orc events since I thought shamanism and spiritual encounters were more rare, but if they can be done on a weekly basis, let's do it! XSKip 40 Author Share Posted April 3, 2015 Another idea, seeing as this seems to be a post where I put my brainstorms. How about the trials wind, where the strongest and surefooted uruks scale the tallest mountain to retrieve the feathers of the red hawks in order to perform a ceremony of empowerment to the sky spirits. (This could bring better weather, or maybe even a fog to obscure the view of uruk enemies) Another idea could be the ritual of Gul'Thak where the uruks delve as deep into the earth as they can in order to commune the best with the earth spirit. They could also bring offerings of ore and such to appease him so that he can bless the uruks. (Perhaps a blessing of more ores or maybe blessing the earth to be more bountiful or giving uruks a brief bonus against knockback for a battle) Another idea I'm jotting down is that down in the southern desert there is this really cool bone structure that an event could happen for any of the spirits. Anyways, I hopes that this helps stimulate other people's ideas and I hope to hear of them!
KarmaDelta 969 Share Posted April 4, 2015 I would love to hear of orcs going on spirit realm escapades as a non-orc. Would be fun to hear the stories.
Harri 4815 Share Posted April 4, 2015 I would love to hear of orcs going on spirit realm escapades as a non-orc. Would be fun to hear the stories. I went on a spirit realm escapade as a non-orc whilst half naked. Does that count?

LaCabra (Soda) 1519 Share Posted April 5, 2015 I personally hope that the Orcs are able to participate in more... 'mystical' things. It'd be sick to have a giant sand worm attack or like a desert dragon attack. Maybe evil spirits are haunting the deserts and we have to get rid of them. We can have great bonfires and tell stories of warriors around them. That's the sort of stuff that makes me think of awesome Orcs.
XSKip 40 Author Share Posted April 5, 2015 First, thanks SuperSoda! I was thinking that perhaps we could have the Lurs gather together, much like the Yar clan does. I was thinking that the Lurs could live in sort of a hunting camp around the mouth of the cave that Lurgoi lives in. We would leave ample space around the mouth however, to allow him to go and come as he wishes, as his coming and going could possibly signify for the Lurs the hunting seasons. Perhaps Lurgoi goes into the southern desert and the Lurs could follow him to this really cool skeleton (if you want I can get you the pictures and coordinates of the bone structure) where the Lurs set up temporary camp and begin hunting some really nasty creatures that live there. These are just some more ideas for the Lur clan since it seems like not a whole lot is going on right now for the clan, and since I'm part of that clan, I'd hate for it to get shown up by the Lak clan in terms of events (no offense Shreck. I love the Lak clan, I just like the Lurs more <3).
