Ban System Updates

Hail Lord of the Craftians~

The GM and Admin teams have realized recently that the way player reports and ban appeals are being handled is not very effective. Therefore there’s been a ban system overhaul! Though most of the changes you may not notice, it’ll hopefully make everything more efficient and get those needing banned off the server for a timeout and those that have served their bans back on. So here’s a quick list of all the changes that have been done!

Blacklists- This is just organizational. Blacklists that are not in effect anymore will be moved to our new Completed Blacklist subforum. This will keep this section clean and so players can easily look to see who is blacklisted and not.

Ban appeals- You must now add the name of the GM who banned you in the title. This is to make sure the GM responsible can see when there is a ban appeal that needs done, and for admins to see if there is a GM not doing their job right!

Player reports` The player reports post has been cleaned up a little and the GM/FM teams have been reminded of the rules and encouraged to respond if rules are broken. Remember that player reports are only to be made with the intention to report a situation and get a GM response. You shouldn’t be arguing on the reports.

Warnings- Last part of our little overhaul is something you cannot see but should be aware of. There is a new section for GMs that is being used to record warnings. That means all verbal warnings, kicks, and temp bans are being recorded. Those that are doing small offenses not usually worthy of a ban now have a small player record. If you are found breaking small rules constantly and ignoring GM warnings, you may receive a harsher punishment.

tl;dr: I made a few small changes on appeals and the GM/FM teams are being told to be harsher on those that break the rules. And I enjoy filling the recent topics with my stuff.

Not second (Damn you oblivious).

We're not meant to argue on ban reports? No one and I mean no one has ever listened to that rule. Just one question on that, what happens if the person reported comes back with their own story that is a clear lie or blatantly false, are we not allowed to argue against it or speak judgement on it or should we just let a GM see which is better?

Do you think it'd be better to allow the person reported to also add people to the 'involved' section?

Depends who you're dealing with some people may just add people with nothing to do with the situation just for the betterment of themselves for they may be a good writer or very argumentative.

Reporter could do the same thing.

If there's no indication of the GM who banned said player, how will the banned player find out upon appealing?

Also, I think the ban report system needs a massive overhaul to make it less tedious and pointless to do.

Suppose so, couldn't hurt to give it a try I guess.

Did you put any thought into this rule at all? If you're going to make it so that we need to say the GM's name in our ban appeals, you need to make that forum where GMs post reasons for bans public again(no reason why it should be private tbh) and make it so that every GM has to post there when they ban a player. If you're banned through a ban report you'll know the GM who banned you, but tons of bans are just on the spot in game for whatever reason the GM likes. You'd be lucky to find out who banned you the same day.

What was the rest of the team's opinions on this?
