Tax Guide

To all owners of homes in Laureh'lin, please look below for a detailed explanation on how to pay your taxes! It is not difficult, and there will be a ingame book to guide you as well. Taxes starts from the 8-11pm EST Sunday of each week, ending at roughly 8-11pm EST the following Sunday depending on our Stewards availability.

The taxes aren't meant to make playing LOTC difficult or create a ooc obligation, but at the moment the Province actually has no money to pay its soldiers and buy material. Its quite unfair to the volunteers who build and fight for us, so we finally decided to implement a reasonable tax rate to reward these people. In fact its so low, all it requires is for you to vote for 2 days out of 7! So it helps the server, and helps us :3

2 keys gives the most chance to make minas

20 keys gives the best chance to obtain a rare item

Some players mention that anything after 20 isn't worth it.

To pay your tax, a small mailbox will be located outside your home. You need to follow the tax guide below to pay the correct amount to the bank, and place the receipts inside the box for the Stewards to come and verify it. Taxes starts from the 8-11pm EST Sunday of each week, ending at roughly 8-11pm EST the following Sunday depending on our Stewards availability.

So taking Asher's home as an example, his home is classified as 'Family', and according to the tax sheet, he needs to pay 150 minas.

So to pay 150 minas, he has to go to the bank stall, and buy 150 minas worth of tax papers. So he can buy 1 Tax Receipt 100 and 1 Tax Receipt 50 to pay 150 minas. But any combination works, as long as the total sum is the same as the one found on the sheet!

This is the Laureh'lin bank, and it also doubles as a tax office. To your right you'll see a small shop selling paper!

Tax Payment Guide sheet! Above every house should be a number, and a size. Look at the size to determine how much you need to pay!

Notes/Additional info

  1. You can overpay if you think you wont be able to login for a long time, we'll just take what is required and leave the rest in.
  2. Anyone can put things in the mailbox, but only the Stewards and the Household owners (first person to be registered on our sheets) can withdraw items from the mailbox
  3. It does not matter who pays the taxes, we just want to see the correct amount of receipts within the mailbox.
  4. If you have missed a week of taxes, you can always pay more to make up for last week's miss. (Although we do reward consistent taxpayers with goodies!)
  5. You can only miss 2 deadlines, we will confiscate your home upon your 3rd missed payment.
  6. People living in the barracks and boarding house does not need to pay any tax.

And that is all! I hope that this has cleared up any confusion! Also this is an ooc/rp thread, so feel free to respond and I will endeavor to answer any questions you may have.

((This is a report that the Guild will publish every week, to explain to any citizens interested where the money collected has went! The purpose of the taxes is really to stimulate the nation, so we have a small budget we can use to plan events and buy some neat things for the nation, just like an actual nation in real life!))

The following is pinned upon the community board of the city. (Is considered IG knowledge)

Year 1522

Opening Statement of the Year 1522

Hello citizens of Laureh'lin! This is Siri, the new Guildmaster for the Province!

To all Household owners, you have probably received a letter from me requesting to update the registry, and the update all of you that the first taxation period ever starts soon! This economic reforms comes after 14 years of the Province of Cerulin, and then 7 years since the Province of Laureh'lin that has not taxed its citizens, and relies solely on the personal treasury of the Provincial Governor, Tristin Tresery.

As such, our public servants are not paid, and this is bad practice for those who volunteer their help to the Province. With the implementation of taxes, the Province will be able to pay its brave soldiers on a merit system, and its dutiful Stewards. Any leftover shall go to helping the citizens who are having difficulty in order to increase Laureh'lin's productivity, and spent on entertaining the citizens!

The Guild has predicted that the first 3 years will be extremely difficult in convincing the citizens that they need to pay taxes, and the next 3 years after that will be just as hard. But if this system can survive past its 6th year, Laureh'lin will stabilize as taxation is regarded as normalcy.

If there are any difficulties regarding payment deadlines, do not hesitate to drop a letter to any Steward or myself, and we will work with you to improve your situation!

The taxation year starts from the start at Year 1522 (24/8/2015), ending at the start of Year 1523(30/8/2015).

Year 1523

Opening Statement of the Year 1523

Hello citizens of Laureh'lin! This is Siri, the Guildmaster for the Province!

The first year of taxation has ended, and we have amassed 1400 minas and a payrate of 85%! Thank you to all the taxpayers who support the Province, and we are looking to expand and fill our city with more facilities in the near future.

The guild is now collecting resources with the minas acquired! Should you head by the farms and lumberjack area, you'll notice a small stall that buys resources. Sell your stuff there if you wish to make some coin!

A tender will be coming up soon on designs for the new district! Expect that in the coming months.

The next taxation year starts from the start at Year 1523 (30/8/2015), ending at the start of Year 1524(5/9/2015).

Year 1524

Opening Statement of Year 1524

Hello citizens of Laureh'lin! This is Siri, the Guildmaster for the Province!

The second year of taxation has ended (with a small delay)! And I once again thank the citizens for dutifully fulfilling their taxes. We have amassed a decent amount to start engaging in activities that will benefit the state, especially with the ongoing district that is to be planned. This year our total revenue was 1100 minas.

Year 1525

Opening Statement of the Year 1524

Hello citizens of Laureh'lin! This is Siri, the Guildmaster for the Province!

This marks the 3rd year of implementing the taxes since taxes were first introduced, and I am very thankful to those who have supported the Province so far. This year, we have collected a total of 1100 minas, which is a little disappointing considering that is only a rate of 64% of households contributing to the growth of the Province.

Some interesting statistic that has surfaced has shown us that since the implementation of taxes, 20% of the 50 households have voluntarily left the Province due to unwillingness to contribute to their economic responsibilities. Our immigrants has only been 12%, so the Province is losing 2.67% of its population every year. The Council is looking to rectify the situation, and anyone with knowledge is welcomed to submit a letter to the Council.
