The Order of St Daniel

Saint Daniel  of Al’ Khazar is the patron saint of pilgrims, cities, travels and peace.  He was the king of Oren for 20 years but abdicated from his throne in order to roam the lands and to spread the word of God. Though never officially ordained in the Temple of the Faith, many contemporaries dubbed 'Good King Dan" as a missionary due to his nature of converting countless peoples in his voyages.

With this in mind Abbot Enoch and High Pontiff Everard II refounded the order of Saint Daniel, based on the premise that its monks would abdicate from all of their earthly possessions and take up the role as travelers and missionaries, dedicated to spread the love of God and his word.  These monks will walk the roads wielding the wooden staff of St Daniel in one hand and a copy of the scripture in the other.

History

The order of Saint Daniel began as an ambitious project envisioned by the High Pontiff Sixtus III. During Sixtus’ time as a deacon in the church he witnessed the peaceful vassalisation of all the Elven states under the Kingdom of Oren and their transformation into provinces. With the vassalisation came the commitment by the Elven leadership to abandon their old faith and take up the true faith of the canon.  This experience molded the young deacon and when he took up the mantle of high pontiff he promised to spread the faith to the Elf folk.

With this in mind he assigned the only non-Human in the church and promising missionary, Radovid of Blaviken,  the role of creating a monastic order dedicated to the conversion of the non-Humans. Radovid became Abbot Radovid, and he founded the Order of St Daniel.

After the untimely death of Abbot Radovid at the hands of elven separatists, another nonhuman clergymen with ideals similar to the late Abbot, Father Ecthallion of Haense, deemed Enoch by the High Pontiff, has taken up the staff of St Daniel once more. After being ordained as an Abbot by Everard II, Enoch made his return to the abandoned Malinor Mission, where he began to administer to the citizenry of Laureh’lin. He soon built a small band of followers, who continue to aid him in his mission to bring the Canonist Faith to their kin.
