What is roleplaying?: Acting like and trying to portray a character in a game, instead of yourself in real life.

What is metagaming?: using outside information to enhance one's capabilities of portraying his/her character in-game.

What is powergaming?: Manipulating the story in a way so that I always win, instead of accepting defeat when I am obviously defeated, or so that even when I am obviously defeated I continue to make unrealistic attempts to win. In other words, powergaming is to not accept losing as an option.

 

In-Character Information

Now you actually make your character - be creative but stay reasonable! Make sure they make sense and that they follow lore. Try to come up with a character that you actually want to play.

 

Character’s name: Jon Magnhild

Character’s sex: Male

Character’s race: Human (Heartlander)

Character’s age: 34

Biography  (Please make it a decent two paragraphs long. Remember to add server lore, and events that happened to your character so that they don’t contradict history.): 

     Jon Magnhild was born to Rodrick and Catherine Magnhild in the year 1499, in the Holy Kingdom of Oren, in Hallowvale. Both of Jon's parents were abused growing up. His mother was verbally put down every day, while his father was beaten because Gary (Rodrick's father) was often drunk. Jon's father never drank enough to get drunk, but every once in a while he did enjoy himself at parties. For as much as they were abused, neither Rodrick nor Catherine treated Jon with hatred or violence, even though he was an uncanny child.

     One night in March, when Jon was 17, the Magnhilds were celebrating Catherine's 47th birthday, when a man dressed in black suddenly broke through the side door, and held a knife to Catherine's throat and demanded all their valuables. Seeing that he would kill her if they did not cooperate, they gave the man all he asked for, except for a coin passed down in their family for generations. They hid the coin under the carpet, and did not speak of it to the thief. To their surprise, the man was satisfied and left them, never to bother them again. This event hurt the Magnhilds, as they were quite well-off before that forever-despised night. That coin, which continues to be their most valuable possession is Jon's to keep, because he is their only child. In 1461, plague broke out in Vekaro, where Rodrick grew up. Catherine and Rodrick met in a refugee camp outside of Vekaro, and became friends at a young age. The humans were separated when they were transported to Thales later that year. From there then on they grew in friendship, till they fell in love as young adults, and were married in 1479. They decided to make their own life, and set out for Hallowvale. Jon is a Mercenary now, but he doesn't feel happy with what he is doing, so he set out a few months ago to find what can fulfill the void in his life. Along the way, he hopes he can find the man who ruined his early life, put his family into poverty, and brought havoc into their lives. After all, he set out to do what could make him happy.

 

 

Personality Traits: alert, persuasive, relentless (in battle), thievish, grim.

Ambitions: to live a pleasant life full of riches, to make peace with his family, to protect the innocent.

Strengths/Talents: very skilled soldier, quiet and can pass by unnoticed, agile, very intelligent.

Weaknesses/Inabilities: terribly awkward with women, drinks in excessive amounts, merciless toward enemies.

Appearance (List the extra details of your characters appearance, IE; height & weight): 6' 1" tall, 185 lbs., handsome in appearance, black hair down to the chin, black beard about one inch long.

My original application had two incorrect definitions, one was Roleplay, the other was Powergaming. I didn't include enough server lore into it either.
