FELSEN GUARD

UiJz3KF.png

The Felsen Guard are the enlisted protectors of the Imperial Capital, Felsen. They are charged by his Imperial Majesty John I. Frederick to retain law and order within the boundaries of the Crownlands and Capital proper. They are given powers and duties equivalent to many of the levies of the Empire, but unlike their rural counterparts, do not always mete out justice themselves, instead deferring to the Imperial Magistrate in order to have fair punishment meted out. However, this is mainly reserved for more severe crimes - the Guard handles more common punishments themselves, abiding by the Lexicon of Ashford in order to ensure fair justice is upheld.

DUTIES

-To preserve peace and order within Felsen and the Crownlands.

-To enforce the Lexicon of Ashford justly and fairly.

- To ensure those imprisoned receive fair trial and punishment befitting a Citizen of the Empire.

-To defend the walls of Felsen in the event of organized assault.

- To work alongside the Inquisition in order to rout out Dark Beings or Heretics, deferring such to the Church for due punishment.

-To assist any Order of the Dragon members in their duties within the Crownlands.

RANKS

OFFICERS

Captain

The head of the Felsen Guard. Handles administration in the Guard and any tasks not delegated to lower ranks such as Quartermastery, Drilling and Discipline. Handles promotion and discipline within the Officer ranks. Defers to the Emperor and Knights of the Dragon, and in certain matters, the Privy council.

Current Captain: Circus De Sola

Lieutenant

Handles lower administration and leadership of the Felsen Guard, and gives orders to the Sergeants in order to command the guard in the field. Handles promotion and assignment of duties to Sergeants and lower ranks when Sergeants are not available, amongst other duties.

Each Lieutenant has an assigned duty, handling a specific branch of the Guard.

Discipline: Handles the punishment onto those of the guard who shun or fail their duties.

Drilling: Handles the organization of training and drilling the guards in a wide variety of skills and techniques. Makes sure the guard works as a cohesive fighting force in the eventuality of organized combat within the Crownlands.

Law-keeping: handles the incarceration duties of the Guard, including cell book-keeping and making sure prisoners are looked after as befitting their Citizen status. Handles bail/fine-paying and release of prisoners. May overrule sentences handed out by lower ranked guards if they are seen to be in error.

NON-OFFICERS

Sergeant

Handles day-to-day duties within Felsen, much more practical and more often seen in the field than the Officer ranks. Take command over the Guards they lead and may assign duties to them freely unless overruled by an Officer.

Guard

The standard rank of the Felsen Guard. This rank consists of the majority of the Guard’s ranks, and consist of rank and file soldiers and footmen that retain law and order within the Capital. They may enforce the laws of the Empire upon citizens, and arrest or detain those who resist, turning to the Lexicon of Ashford in order to dispense fair punishment. In wartime, these men make up the bulk of the Felsen’s defence, and as such, receive training akin to those in other military orders or levies alongside their guard training.

Recruit

The untested and untrained of the Guard. This rank exists in order to allow new Guards to prove themselves, as well as to discourage deserters or uncapable candidates from being given lawkeeping powers.

UNIFORM

Officers Uniform | Non-Officer Uniform

3XjOjEg.png?1ZQnu7xv.png?1

The Uniform of the Felsen Guard, in peacetime, differs from other levies and militias in the fact that it is designed to protect from threats a guard may go about facing in their daily duties - less such the lethal armaments of an armed soldier, and more so the improvised or rough weapons of a criminal or bandit. As such, leather and chain are much more preferable to bulky plate, as the Guard will often be required to chase down fleeing criminal or to navigate through narrow and crowded streets. Common threats include repurposed farm equipment, knives/shanks and blunt wooden weapons.

However, the Guard, when called to war, does have an Imperial Army compliant uniform, which includes plate and mail variants. Nonetheless, all uniforms, regardless of type, display the banner of the Imperial House proudly.

In terms of armaments, a Felsen Guard will be given access to a variety of non-lethal and less-so lethal weapons to complete their duties. These include wooden clubs (commonly known as blackjacks or truncheons), metal maces and hammers. Short/longswords and crossbows may also be used in situations involving a criminal having access to lethal force. Polearms such as halberds and pikes will be issued for both ceremonial and gatekeeping duties.

WHAT YOU CAN DO FOR US

- Serve as the Emperor's hand in the realm, keeping law and order.

- Abide by the Lexicon of Ashford to make sure all punishments and lawkeeping are just and good in the eyes of the Creator.

- Scour out crime wherever it may be found.

- Train yourself, honing yourself into the finest of lawkeepers the Empire will ever see.

WHAT WE CAN DO FOR YOU

- Bed, board and sword provided. You will be equipped and given your own room to call your own, as well as three meals a day.

- You will be provided with training given by a variety of experts in martial combat and lawkeeping, as well as more traditional battle/war training.

- The opportunity to have your talents and virtues rewarded.

- Weekly pay, as well as bonuses for exceptional service or deeds.

OOC

Oh boy, here we go again. The Human Capital guard. These groups are always a mixed bag and often get a bad reputation due to the fact that a majority of their players are new to the server. However, that’s good! The mission of this group is to both allow those who enjoy criminal/lawkeeping RP a place to thrive, and also to introduce new players to the server - often, we will be the first person new human players interact with, so it’s very important for us to give a good impression.

The main focus of the Felsen Guard is RP. We will be putting great emphasis on character development, training, and story arcs involving the good, the bad and the just plain criminal denizens of Felsen. We are not here to OOC’ly stamp out criminal activity in Felsen, but to allow a struggle to occur between them - I actively encourage people to cause us trouble in character through a variety of crimes (mainly non-murder, please, that gets a tad boring considering what LOTC is like nowadays).

So, anyways, yes - if you are interested in lawkeeping and criminal RP, enjoy being constantly curbstomped by bandits and want to make Felsen’s RP great, why not join? Or, if you prefer more nefarious characters, why not make a criminal character to make our lives miserable (in RP of course…).

[!] * A large amount of blood is in the Garrison, particularly around the training pit. the occasional drop leads a trail to the docks, were the half-dead body of Merir is found with rope around his ankle. It appears someone has attacked him, and tried to kill him by throwing him into the harbor. Luckily the rope holding him down broke, and he floated up and is found on a rock. *

A replied is penned to the applicant, delivered by a grubby looking messenger boy. "Message for a mister Javert!" he says in a chirpy and really quite annoying tone. He delivers the message eagerly before running off. The plain-looking parchment is sealed with purple wax, a symbol of a small dragon imprinted upon it. Upon opening it, you would see a plain, yet neat script. It reads;

"Greetings, Mr. Javert,

I am delighted to see a devout Canonist interested in joining our Order. Despite your lack of experience, I believe that one such as yourself would be an excellent fit within our ranks. Sweeping floors is not the most exalted or hallowed of jobs, but it betrays a willingness to do mundane and unglamourous tasks, a trait that is not often found nowadays. It belies a certain humility that any good Canonist should aspire to. Please report to the Felsen Garrison at the sixth toll of the church bell (time negotiable, if such is not suitable for you) next Saint's day, and I shall be happy to give you an induction to the Guard, if you are still interested.

Creator willing,

Captain Elizabeth DeNurem."

As Aegio trudges around the Felsen streets, he would notice a young lad hopping down from his perch upon the side of a horse-drawn carriage (seemingly not a paying customer). He lands with a splat in the deep carriage-wheel rut, his mud-caked leather boots acquiring a new, fresh coat. However, he remains beaming as always, and introduces himself cordially to the man as a messenger of the Felsen Guard, tilting his beret to show a small black dragon badge. Before his overbearingly chipper demeanour manages to incite you into smacking him, he promptly hands over a folded piece of parchment, sealed with purple wax. Promptly, he scarpers, most likely eager to piss away his pay. Upon opening the letter, it reads as thus;

"Ave, Mister Aegio,

I have received your letter of interest into joining the Guard, and would be delighted to welcome you into our ranks. I am glad to see Canonists flocking to our order - at this rate, I may need to see about recruiting a chaplain! If it is suitable, please report to the Felsen Garrison at the fifth toll of the Cathedral ball after midday (5pm EST). If this time is not good for you, please tell the messenger boy before he runs off, as he is prone to do. If that's already too late, please leave a letter in my pigeonhole inside the Felsen Garrison with a more suitable time.

Creator willing,

Captain Elizabeth Denurem."

As Thalor would be inspecting one of the finely crafted swords at one of the market stalls, he would feel a tug on his clothes. Wary of pickpockets, he would turn quickly, only to find a young boy clad in rough clothes, with a slightly-too-big black and white tabard over the top, the excess being tucked into his belt. The boy quickly introduces himself as a messenger for the Felsen Guard, and offers over a folded piece of parchment, sealed with purple wax. The letter reads as thus;

"Ave, Mister Tienen,

I am delighted to see a trained blacksmith willing to join our order. The appetite for armour and arms of the guard is voracious, and only the sturdiest of craftsmanship will do. As such, I would be happy to welcome a devout Canonist such as you to our ranks. Please proceed to the Felsen Garrison at six tolls of the Cathedral bell past midday (6pm EST). If such a time is not suitable, please tell my messenger boy... and don't tip him, no matter what he says.

Creator willing,

Captain Elizabeth DeNurem."
