Character’s name: Scot Lovenbalk

Character’s gender: Male 

Character’s race: Highlander

Character’s age: 23.

Biography: Even when Scot was a small boy, he had a cheery disposition. Growing up with his brother Cullen, Scot was often at his side as they ventured through the snowy hills of Vailor. Often Scot would plead his older brother to tell him stories of what he remembered of Athera; but when Cullen ran out of stories, Scot asked his parents. Scot himself had been born the year after they arrived there; and the idea of there being some other land far, far away where so much of their heritage and history originated fascinated him. His favourite was hearing about how the people of Athera fought against the attacks against the Undead, oddly. 

Because of this love of his family's stories, Scot thought he'd grow up to become a historian. His father seemed to more prefer he become a knight; often telling Scot stories of Oren's many glorious battles. Unfortunately for him, that only fueled Scot's love for history more than his desire for battle. 

But it was then an peculiar thing happened. When rummaging through an old cedar chest that resided in their small basement, Scot found an old hurdy gurdy-- a peculiar instrument with a lute-shaped body, a crank, and a series of button-like keys. When presenting this instrument to his father, it was explained the instrument belonged to Cullen and Scot's grandfather; who carried the instrument with him throughout his travels across Athera.  "Aye, there's a lotta hist'ry en tha' ol' thing," Scot's father remarked, dusting it off a little before handing it back to the boy. And that was it. This small exchange opened the door to the realm of music. Each instrument, each piece of music Scot came into contact with seemed to be filled with so much history. Who wrote this? Why did they? Who held this instrument before I did? These were questions Scot often wondered about as he played the pieces, and it never ceased to fill him with a sense of wonder. 

Now, Scot can be found living with his brother and family in the duchy of Courland. At the crack of dawn, Scot will wake the family with the glorious melody of a bagpipe, and smile brightly at their angry, tired faces. 

 

Personality Traits: Scot is an incredibly cheery, optimistic individual. He often wears a bright smile on his face, commonly accompanied by his loud laugh. However, he's quick to trust anyone-- treating random strangers as if they've been friends for ages. 

 

Ambitions: Scot's dream goal is to one day become a well known music composer himself-- to create his own small corner of history in a big world.

 

Strengths/Talents: Scot's strongest point is his unwavering optimism. For one reason or another, he always has something to grin or laugh about. Additionally, Scot has a strong passion for music; which he gladly shares with the rest of his family each morning.  

 

Weaknesses/Inabilities: One of Scot's downfalls is his tendency to trust anyone he meets. His default view of anyone is that they're a good person who could do no wrong, until proven otherwise. Furthermore, Scot tends to be a bit oblivious; slow to realize a person's true intentions or true feelings about a situation. Because of both these traits, Scot carries with him a sense of naivete.  

 

Appearance: Standing at 5'11, and 160 lbs, Scot is often seen wearing darker, simpler clothing meant for colder climates. His burnt orange hair is often tied back into a small ponytail, and more than not he'll be carrying an instrument of some kind with him.
