Soul Puppetry

Introduction

Soul Puppetry focuses on using three primary sources to utilize the magic to the full potential, these are;

  • Blood

  • Puppet

  • Connection

Once you have these three things soul puppetry is very easy to understand. To magic focuses on gathering blood from a victim you wish to inflict curses upon, you can inflict curses on; Animals, descendant races and yourself. Once a connection has been made you are ready to start the curse, though you must remain to have physical contact with the puppet for it to work and also physically induce the curses represented on the puppets areas for it to affect the victim, such as; hold the head of the puppet over fire to produce a headache for the victim.

If you break physical contact with the puppet you cannot curse and any pre existing curses you inflicted with cease stopping. Curses that inflict physical disability such as crippling someone unable to walk or making them unable to talk will all change back to normal once the curse or connection breaks. Though inflicting physical deformation on the person will remain permanent unless healed by a holy art.

Depending on the skill of the puppeteer is how long the connection on the victim can be held on the puppet, with also the added repercussions of the curses used backfire on the caster by a certain percentage based on the skill of the puppeteer. This is to make the puppeteer have drawbacks so the magic is not endless and nothing to major can be done without some cost of the puppeteer is put into play.

Explanation

Puppets are the important objects that allows the magic to be used. Without one, someone can not use the magic due to them needing to link the soul to the puppet. Puppets are made from special materials. Someone can not willy-nilly pick up a piece of dirt and make it a puppet. Most puppets are made from rotten pieces of pine tree, whilst other, more powerful puppets, can be made from other materials, such as netherrack. The stronger the material, however, the more experienced the magic user must be.

The puppet must also resemble the person for it to work. For example, if you were to try and link a Kharajyr’s soul to a puppet resembling a Human, it would not work. You would need to add a tail and snout to the puppet for it to work. Orc puppets would need to be bigger, etcetera.

To link the puppet with the soul of a certain person, you'd need blood, fresh and clean blood. When you get the blood, carve out the eyes of the puppet and fill it with the blood, then seal it off. Sprankle it with a bit of magic and you got yourself a fresh, working puppet á la soul.

Every tier allows for a new material for a puppet, which in turn, allows for stronger curses. Do note however, that the puppet wouldn’t work forever. It depends, just as with the curses, on the tiers of the magic. Thus, the higher the tier, the longer the link can stay.

Requirements

The requirements to connect to a puppet is just a single drop of fresh blood from a victim, this can be taken by any means. Apart from blood the connection must be known and mastered to first create a link between the puppet and the victim to channel a soul link between them where any curse on the puppet can replicate and effect the victim it's link towards.

The puppet requirements to make run based on skill or tiers as it's an easier understanding to grasp on skills.

  • Any kind of wood or natural organic materials. i.e, large amounts of moss, clay, straw. - Tier 1 material, -Tier 1 Puppeteers would be able to hold the link for an hour to an hour and a half.

  • Hair/wool/fur/feathers, or any natural hides from creatures. - Tier 2 puppet material, cannot be used by tier 1. -Tier 2 Puppeteers would be able to hold the link for three to six hours.

  • Flesh - Tier 3 material, yet again cannot be used by lower tiers. -Tier 3 Puppeteers would be able to hold it for a day.

  • Flesh and bones - Tier 4 material. Rinse and repeat. -Tier 4 Puppeteers would be able to hold it for three to five days.

  • Materials with magical properties. i.e. Magegold, Carbarum. Netherrack, Soul sand. - Tier 5 material. -Tier 5 Puppeteers would be able to hold it for a week.

Progression

Tier I [2 weeks]

By now the student has began to test their feet in the waters of this magic, and they should now understand most of the fundamentals behind it.  It is likely they have caught onto just how they must go about binding a soul to a puppet form their practice in the previous tier, and can begin practicing it on actual larger beings.  It’s going to take a lot out of the caster at this stage to hold even the most simple of bonds and curses, however that doesn’t mean they won’t try.  A student at this stage should be able to experiment with small, rather harmless (as far as dark arts goes) curses, that only really weaken a person.  The bond at this time would only last for around about half an hour to an hour at a time.

Tier II [2 weeks]

Now that the student has gotten the hang of what they are doing, things aren’t as taxing as what they once were, nor as exhausting.  Whilst it will still take a lot out of them to cast a curse upon someone, they could still carry it out far enough that it would have an effect on the being.  The student will find that casting the curses he practiced in the earlier tier a little easier than before, as the less complex the curse is, the less it requires of you.   Now a student should be able to hold a link to a being for hours.  The curses at performed at this stage would be ones that affect their emotions, feelings and thoughts. The puppeteer would be able to, at this point, practically harm the doll to simulate the same feel of pain on the being.

Tier III [1 month]

The student is now adept and has a fluent grasp on what this magic is.  Having practised on bodies multiple times, he begins to use actual flesh, symbolically making the bond between the puppet and the victim far stronger and far more real.  The abilities of the student at this time begin to open up far wider.  His curses last alot longer and are more potent.  From weakening attributes, to manipulating feeling and emotion, the practitioner moves on to begin cursing them with what are known as ‘blood curses’ or ‘flesh curses’, and can physically manipulate ones being.  This involves causing pains to the joints, internal or external bleeding, the breaking of limbs or jumbling of organs.  It has come to the point where the flesh puppet’s bond is able to manipulate the body parts of the affected victim, and can control him somewhat like a puppeteer.  (Note that this requires consent of the other party OOCly)  You can have up to two puppets bound at once, but the potency of the curse on each would be divided.  When a target dies from either shock, pain, or fatalities, the soul dissipates its link from the puppet and you are able to harvest a small amount of energy used from it.

Tier IV [2 months]

Another new kind of puppet opens up for the user and they can now start to teach the magic to others if they would like. They are experts in the art of the soul puppetry, allowing them to use almost all curses. As the student imbues bones into their bodies he can cause mortal wounds to him, and a practitioner at this level could easily end someone’s life.  Your curses now, are of great potency and shouldn’t be underestimated.  Able to host three puppets at one time, as to teach your students.   Your curses could last human years now, long enough that the victim would want to seek out a cleric, had you not killed them first.  These curses can even be supernatural.

Tier V [1+ month]

The user has become a master of the arts of soul puppetry and can now use all curses with ease. As you master this art you begin to meddle with curses that have -magical- effects.  Each effect is based on the material of the puppet you create.   You can permanently bind someone's soul to a puppet(Life Puppet), that it could only be removed with magic.

Red-Lines

  • Cannot use magic to inflict curses such as arcane.

  • You need the fresh blood of the person to first do soul puppetry.

  • You need a puppet to do any type of curses.

  • The puppet must resemble the person but not fully detailed.

  • You can only make one Life Puppet at a time.

  • You cannot control what the person sees or has feelings towards if you put them under a curse.

  • Having a connection to the victim through the puppet for a long period of time will drain you. Causing dark art corruption deteriating your body.

  • You can only use blood upto a an hour once taken from the individual otherwise you are unable to bind them to a puppet.

  • You can have multiple puppeteers cursing the same victim. Curses backfire.

This means that the victim will have 100% of the damage, but you will only have a certain percentage of the damage;

Tier 1: 50%

Tier 2: 40%

Tier 3: 30%

Tier 4: 20

Tier 5: 10%

New players learning soul puppetry are told the guidelines through the teachers as it is a magic that cannot be self taught.

As with old and such to follow. For players wanting to understanding what soul puppetry is. This is a guide to give you an understanding of it.

Wasn't soul-puppetry removed? I could have sworn I saw that written somewhere.

Arcane Puppetry was, not Soul Puppetry.
