The Brinejaw clan has been around for quite a long time, making up the crews of the large dwarven steamships that ferried dwarves around the land. The Brinejaws are a clan of sea dwarves, whalers, sailors, and fishermen. They roam the high seas, spreading dwarven military power to foreign shores by means of their vast ironclad steamships.

 

The Brinejaws disappeared for many decades, with the previous clanfather wanting to hunt “The Great White Whale” in the seas. He forced all of the Brinejaw clan to set out on the oceans in search of his quarry. It is unknown now whether or not they actually found this whale, and the events of the Great Hunt are rarely spoken of. The Brinejaws have returned only recently a broken and weakened clan, with a new clanfather, Egil Brinejaw. While they are small now, they will without a doubt rise to their former position of glory.

The Brinejaws have a noticeably different accent from most dwarves, and tend to use ship terms such as ‘port’ and ‘starboard’ when on land. Depending on the region their ships are in, their clothing will differ, from light and colorful clothes in warmer climates to heavier more durable leathers and furs in colder climates.

The dwarves of the Brinejaw clan are a hardy seafaring bunch. While not different enough from their dwarven kin to be considered a subrace, they are noticeably different in appearance. Most Brinejaw dwarves have tough, tanned skin and dark grey hair. They have eyes that range in hue from dark blue to pale green. They usually wear leather greatcoats within the mountains of the capital along with different hats based on their rank within the clan. They tend to favor sabres and cutlasses over hammers and axes, although it is not uncommon to see a Brinejaw using a short hafted axe in combat.

The Brinejaws are not the most honorable of dwarves, and are not above fighting dirty in combat. They will kick sand in their opponents’ eyes, throw obstacles in the path of oncoming attackers, and altogether be rowdy and crude. A Brinejaw’s loyalty lies with his ship, his kingdom, and his clan above all else.

Bio: Tepah is a disgraced Kha priest, still able to use his magic. Has an open mind of the world which is rare for a Kha and feels most at home on a boat. For battle Tepah prefers to use his body over an actual weapon, being taught well in kharajyrian hand to hand combat makes him still a rather formidable fighter. Currently lives with the dwarves and feels more akin to them than the kha, his only real fine line with dwarves is he refuses to denounce his goddess.
