A Thesis On Beauty

Often in my youth, I would seek out a woman of beauty. In my estate, I would desire nothing but the most beautiful: rugs, windows, tapestries, etc...; all sorts of ornaments that I felt would bring greatness upon me and my home. In fashion, I would desire nothing less of the highest quality of furs and silks to be strung across my bare body. There came a point in my life where I nurtured a revelation; I pursued all of this beauty in my life, yet I knew not what beauty truly meant. So I began to ask myself, ‘What is beauty?’ I searched, endlessly, in my own mind to try to give myself some closure to this lingering thought. What is beauty? I continued throughout the years to try and come to a solution to this question. I would gaze at a woman of physical beauty, “Is this beauty?”, I asked myself.

For years, I remained, just as I had begun. The hours I had spent in deep reconciliation of this thought could not be calculated. Eventually, the question became buried in my mind. One day I was deep in thought over issues of little matter, and I looked over to find my son sitting there smiling at me. And I looked into his eyes to find… the answer to this unbearable question. The world is mysterious and cruel just at it is, divinely beautiful. The passions that lay deep within us, the feelings that make our heart churn and our stomach boil; they are beautiful. The people we love that take away the cruelty of the world, the numbing sensation of our passions, our love for each other; it is, beautiful. Perhaps our passions and our love, could tame even devils. It is often said that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. But one thing is universal, the moments that seemingly take our breath away... It continues to reign true, the greatest of tears come in a time when there is no struggle to weep about... Let us not forget the little things in life; for they are truly beautiful…

"Taking a **** is one of the little things in life, I don't think it's beautiful." A broad shouldered man with shaven sides would murmur.

Bastian having read this Thesis briefly, would slam it shut and write a big ugly remark on the cover of the book.

'**** off Karduin.'

"I can't help but wonder what insanity overcomes such people to write in such vile colours that are so straining on the eyes for a thesis on beauty. For this is anything but beautiful," states Aelthus with a sigh, crumpling the papers into a tight ball and throwing it onto the fire.

"It is scientifically proven that the color red is the color that personifies passion. Don't be so dumb. Another beauty of this world is holding the head of your enemies, son."

"What is this science you speak of? Which science proves this claim?" Inquires an elderly sage.
