Trying to understand Lore.

Well, been trying to research into the lore of this server, for three days now. And the truth is I still understand nothing. Well not nothing, but not to a acceptable standard.

What have I done? 

Well I've watched multiple videos, read all links on the wiki. And checked out the lore sections on the forums. 

The largest factor for me, is the changing realms. And understanding what is history and what is present. 

After three days of constant research, I cannot complete my application, as I cannot link my backstory to the lore.

Do you guys have any-tips on how to learn and connect to the servers lore? (Female, High-elf).

Or any primary or secondary research resources would be useful.

Any suggestions? I'm finding it so hard to connect my high-elf to the world, making sense of locations and backstory of the world to influence actions.
