SPOILER ALERT!1.8 has a Running Ability so a Far travel from city to city would be good with this running ability, which is fast ill give you a link 1.8 Running Ability:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S97p4dXM7xE . Anyways towns or like B&B's (what too far?) would be better inbetween make the journey alot better, maybe a few shortcuts to cities, but you have to jump like from a log to a log and if you fall, you fall into lava kinda like Natives superb obstacle 'The Gaunlet'.

I understand it'd take time and effort, but people who have gained minas to purchase plots of land or donated to gain land are now seeing work that they also spent excessive amounts of time building destroyed for nothing. At the very least they need to log EVERYBODY's land so that they can be guaranteed a plot of the same size if there was a map reset. Not to mention getting people their things.

Well if no one is willing to roleplay it as we escape aegis with what we can carry.. hrm.. much to be decided

many valid points have been made past few days

Perhaps a we can create big ship, we can't take our inventories, although we can buy a chest for a large sum of money, that can be taken over. It won't be cheap.

When you escape something, you take nothing because you have no time. Perhaps this ship was built in case of something like this happening. We travel across the ocean to a different land that isn't destroyed.

I personally have been in the position where I had to decide whether it's best to let people bring their items along, or if we start from ground up once again.

In most cases, it's best to start over. Economies run on real world values (usually), such as how many diamonds are actually spawned into the world. This server is a bit different.

Here, our economy is based on our kills; who can actually do what. Master farmers gain money by selling food and running farms, master miners dig deep into the earth and sell rare ores, and master hunters hunt for mobs, and protect others (this is one thing that makes this server so special; that we work as a community. One individual cannot succeed by themselves- they must rely on other peoples skills as well as their own).

That being said, people have worked hard to get what they have in their possession. It's significantly harder to get diamonds in this server than it is in your standard MC server. Money definitely needs to be carried over. I'd also say people should be able to carry over what is in their inventories- no more. This server is massive. It would be so time consuming for GM's to transfer over a chest for every single person. Also, we don't NEED to bring chests full of cobble and wood; the world will be waiting for you to harvest all it has to offer. And with your skill levels kept, things shouldn't be too hard to get going again.

On the note of bringing major cities over: I'd suggest against it. The whole appeal of a new world is starting fresh, with a new playing field at our fingertips. We will remember all the good times we had in the old, while embracing the new. Also, it's pretty damn difficult to transfer over cities, while keeping a seamless nature. World edit has it's limits. (Cities were built on natural landscapes to begin with. Plopping them into a new world will take a long time to fix up at the edges, trying to make it fit in with the new environment.)

Anyways, I'm all for a new map- it's like a blank chapter in the Lore. We don't know what's ahead, which is scary, but nothing happens if we don't face our fears.

ok, you said everything that we have created will be kept in your front page post Vaq. Can you just clarify (because it wasn't specifically mentioned) that player created protected cities will be transferred as well? Thanks, that's all I'm wondering about.

I don't think any cities should carry over. It'll be too much work, fitting them into the new world. I would say, let everyone start with no money, no items, but maybe keep skills, depending on whether characters will carry over to the new world lore-wise.

None of the cities should be carried over because they would look terrible.

That sounds really, really bad seeing as alot of us VIPs paid alot of $ to get minas...

Indeed. I am not one of those really, but it would be a shame for all those who played the longest on the server. Only stuff that maybe should not be moved is cities. I'd say bring the grandest buildings from cities over, and fit them in on the new world.

Again, I think we should really make a big upgrade of the lore. I think we should appoint a team to do this, and seeing I'm already on it somehow, being archaeologist, I could volonteer to start the work.

If I may, I would like to add an alternative proposal.

I. Reference

What if we were to model the "new world" on a historical relevance. When you look at Europe expanding into the America's, Africa or India/China the exodus from one continent to the next was far different than a simple recreation of the "old world." In each example there were pre-existing civilizations, their buildings and customs were vastly different than our own. There were conquests, betrayals, colonies, and wars between the nations...but it led to far more than an expansion of territory- it expanded our minds and the respective cultures of all involved. In all lore this is the general way new worlds happen, for example in Tolken's Lord of the Rings world middle earth was a "new world" that was settled and developed in a similar manner.

II. Proposal (New World "discovered" by Aegis)

I would like to see the New World implamented as a discovery, with both worlds co-existing. The land of the New World should have one at least one civilization that is pre-existing to the discovery. This pre-existing civilization would have its capital city built by devs before the opening of the world. The Nations would stake claims to the New World and develop "colonies" that would be entirelly player built.

III. Travel to the New World- and the dangers of it!

Players/settlers should be able to bring whatever they wish in their inventory to the new world, probally via ship. At least for the first month or maybe even longer as the colonies are being developed death in the New World would send colonists back to Cloud Temple- until there is order and stability in the New World. This would definatly add a balancing factor in the perspectives of those attempting to colonize/wrest the land from the Native people of the New World.

IV. The Civilizations of the New World.

There should definatly be an established Civilization with a great city and ruling eliete that can be discovered and treated with. The Support of said Civilization will be beneficial towards those attempting to gain a foothold. There should be an oppertunity for people to apply to join the New world as Natives- they can apply with the new rp/backstory of said native once lore for the Civilization is created. Once accepted the Natives should orginize themselves on the forums so they have a working government when the New World is released. Also, there should be a New World Temple that the Natives return to instead of Cloud Temple to preserve the balance and increase the New World's cultural difference.

There could also be a tribal Native population that lives in the new world- but this would only be if there was an overflow of applicants for the New City. Either civilition may be hostile towards settlers- which adds even more danger and thrills!

V. Conclusion

This proposal would mean that no one would lose what they have created, and would give anyone the option of joining the New World- or staying where they are. Not everyone would have to immagrate, and those who have paid real money (which allows for this possibility) would still get their plots and items. It would mean that there would not be a need to port the old world over, and in fact the New world could be planned out in advance in a RP or epic proportions as nations actually will have something to bicker over.

There can be no doubt that the clashing of cultures can be an exciting expierence, full of danger and adventure, as well as great reward. By utilizing the 1.8/1.9 adventure packs in this manner we can establish a truely thrilling experience.

Thank you in advance for your feedback and input,

Vinnyvedivici (Lord Lucius Murmillo)
