Definitions

What is roleplaying?: The main type of interaction in LotC where users create a character and play through a story that responds to current global and character lore. The player has to live through the character they have created whenever in-game.

What is metagaming?: Using outside or out-of-character information to influence in-game decisions, when realistically your character would have no knowledge of said information. Some offenses are worse than others, like knowing people’s names before being told versus 21st Century Paul Revere on TS.  

What is power-emoting (powergaming)?: Either raising your power level to over 9000, or failing to give other players the ability to respond to your roleplay actions, which throws fairness out the window. Along with Jeremy’s neck. :P

Biography:

Time was never invented. Olivier de Savoie died in 1523 because time was never invented by men. I was delivered in The Year of No Sun, or otherwise 1524. It was funny, really, because without the sun no one knew what time it was. People ate, drank, beat their wives, and slept (probably in that order) at different times of the day or night (if there really was a difference between them at that point), and for my first year the world shoveled ash along with the snow. Everyone looked up as if there was something to see. No one was in control.

 

In 1526 the plague hit the land like a curse and the world like always was a trying house of cards. Guy de Bar was dethroned by John Frederick Horen. I remember as a child seeing the grand ships of Courland surge into port, where their goods would be unloaded by strong men with strong backs, and sold on the market for profits that would go to powerful men who controlled armies and taxes. But then the storms would come, and I would see the ships get dashed against the rocks, as in control as a fool riding a saddled swine. I would see my mother beaten when ships crashed or the taxes got raised, maybe even lowered, and I was told to hold my tongue. I wrote it all down instead.

 

My childhood was unremarkable, as I had too many books and no control over my surroundings. By 1540 I moved out of my parent’s house and set out in the world to find that foothold. I had read books. I had knowledge. I could bridge the gap between man and nature and forge dominance into something eternal. Surely... something indefinite, unable to be destroyed or altered, contested or otherwise challenged; that was the ultimate form of control. What men or money or disease or ash or death cannot change I will create. And they will know I rule.

Personality Traits: Minerva is observant, ambitious, smart (sometimes arrogant), obsessed, and overly passionate.

Ambitions: Minerva wants to manipulate eternity through X, thought to be the ultimate form of control over men (meaning humanity, but she has a grudge also) and nature.

Strengths/Talents: Minerva excels at writing and functional design, is aspiring in architecture and potion-crafting. She is adept at exploring and theorizing.

Weaknesses/Inabilities: Minerva is bad at killing things and can hardly fight with conventional weapons.

Appearance: Minerva stands at average height with good posture. She has purple hair and eyes, sporting drab black pants and dirty shirt with red suspenders.
