Bvie 1754 Share Posted November 25, 2016 Clank-Clank-Clank Darkness greeted his eyes as he stirred from his slumber as he shifted against the uncomfortable wooden planks. Clank-Clank-Clank He grumbles, a hand waving over his head as the other comes to the metal that sits on his face and moves it back into its correct position. Light blinds him suddenly as the eye slits line up properly and flood him with the morning sunshine and blue sky. Clank-Clank-Clank He turns his head and is greeted with a pale yellow bill and a white head that ***** to one side and looks upon him with a blue eye. SQUAWK! His hand shoots up to wave it at the seagull that had been tapping on his iron mask, but the bird is accustomed to such an ordeal and flutters above, its wings flapping rapidly as it hovers before him. SQUAWK! The wings settle down and the bird lands between his outstretched legs, its bill tapping, once more, on his leather boot. “Alright...Alright…” He grumbles as he shifts to his side, allowing his hand to slide into the coats pocket and wrestles half a piece of bread from within. His hands raise the bread up before him, breaking it into two pieces, one much larger than the other. He compares both and offers the bird the smaller piece. “Good job on the wake up call.” The seagull hops closer, inspecting the small piece of bread in his hand before quickly pecking at the opposite hand. “Yeowch!” His hand drops the bread, reeling back to suck on his finger as the bird quickly darts down and snatches the larger piece of bread before hopping several feet away. It turns its head to show him its prize before dropping it to the deck and pecking at it, quickly devouring the bread. “Alright...tomorrow I’ll beat you, you can bet money on it this time.” SQUAWK! ~ He grips the banister of the deck tightly as he stands atop the impressive vessel. He raises a leg, setting it atop the ledge as his hand raises to his forehead, scouting for land. “Aha! LAND HO!” He bellows loudly, alerting all around him of his discovery! Sadly, the people below on the Sutica docks simply stare at him as if he was a crazed fool. He grips a thick rope and loosens it, undoing the sail that the ship workers had just finished rolling up and causing a flurry of profanity to be flung at him. But his ears and eyes are focused elsewhere as he swings down from the ship! Sailing through the air as if an impressive bird, oblivious to the people he nearly knocked off the stairs leading from the ship to the land, just steps away from where he swung from. He leaps from the rope and lands atop the stone dock, rolling as his cape spins along with him, knocking over a cabbage vendors stock. He looks up at the crowd of completely oblivious passers bys, imagining all of them cheering as he raises a fist in celebration. “Nailed it.” He quickly runs from the scene, ignoring the cries of a man lamenting over his ruined cabbages, and darts in between the alleyways of the city. Boxes are knocked over, trash spilt, and plants torn up as he darts in and out of yards and porches, but his mission is of utmost importance. “What is he doing?” “Is he….Is he suppose to be…?” “Just ignore him, he’s crazy.” “My cabbages!” “Only in Sutica….” His tongue runs over his lips, tasting the salty sweat pooling in his mustache. His arms and legs moving in rhythm as he climbs. His grip on each stone brick loose, but his determination and insanity pushes past his fears and common sense, as he climbs. Soon he’s met with the cool breeze as he stands atop the clock tower, looking over the city he protects. The city he MUST protect. He looks down, looking at his ‘adoring fans’ as they look up and point at him. He gives them a wave, a twirl of his cape as he steps around the flag that waves in the wind -slightly getting tangled in it for a minute- before disappearing from view. ~ “No! Let go!” “Just give it to me!” “I don’t want to!” An old woman pulls on her pink bag as a younger man tugs on it in a shadowy corner of the city. “Look, if you know what’s best for you, you’ll just gimme it!” A swooshing fills the air as a caped crusader swings in on some vines, delivering a heavy kick to the young man’s head that sends him rolling to the side. The masked man lands, whispering to himself ‘Nailed it’, before standing upright as he approaches the man on the ground. Loud groans can be heard from him as he gives a nod and turns to the old woman. “He won’t be bothering you anymore Miss….?” “G-Gladys….who...who are you?” He raises his cape to cover his, already, masked face. “Just call me, Third.” He quickly runs off from the scene, his arms behind him as his cape waving in the air before disappearing behind a corner. “Oh….Oh Jimmy….” “Grandma….next time just let me carry the groceries…” ~ “Help!” He stops as he walks through the park, the sounds of a distressed cat reaching his ears. He quickly looks around, spotting a Kha in the branches of a tree. “Strange kitty, what is wrong? Are you stuck?” “Third! Aife not stuck! Aife need help!” “Have no fear, kitty, I will save you!” “Aife not kitty, Third! Listen!” However the caped crusader could not hear her protests for grunts echoed under his mask as he began to scale the tall tree. The tree’s leaves fell quickly as the branch began to bend and crack under their combined weight. “Have no fear kitty, I’ll have you down in a jiffy.” “Third! Last time, Aife not-!” A loud cracking sound can be heard as the tree trunks sped by them quickly. A thump and then a groan as Aife bounces off of the hero’s torso, standing up slowly. “See? Told you!” He jumps to his feet and rushes off once more as Aife waves frantically. “But Third! Aife need help!” The bushes behind her begins to rustle as her head slowly turns in terror. In a flash several dogs lurch from the bush, barking and snapping their jaws as they charge towards her. Her tail shoots to the sky, as well as every hair on her body, as she shrieks and begins to run quickly to the nearest tree, trying to claw up it. ~ The thudding of his boots on the boats wooden dock bring relief to his ears as the darkness of night settles over the city. He settles down in his corner, a small space between some shipping crates and removes a few pieces of bread from his satchel. The mask slides upwards on his face as the cool night’s air rushes over his skin, letting it breathe in the safety of the shadows. “So...busy day, eh?” The thudding of boots greets his ears as he looks up, a piece of bread hanging between his lips, as Thain’s visage looks down upon him, her arms crossed. “All in a day’s work to protect the city!” A smile creeps across his face after he swallows and raises his waterskin to her as if to toast. “Right…” Her hands move to her satchel and take out a stack of papers, the word COMPLAINT at the top of them all in bold red letters. She shifts through them slowly, looking down at an artists rendition of a crowd gathering around a clock tower, a man screaming about his cabbages, a young Kha covered in bandages and missing fur, and a young man wearing a neck brace. “You know, Grey, you could really just work the gate and that’d help protect the city.” He chuckles as he stores his last piece of bread into his pocket for the next morning as he grips the bottom of his mask. “But then how could I be the hero the city deserves? No…” He pulls the mask over his face slowly as he locks his grey eyes with her blue ones. “How could I be the hero this city needs?” She rolls her eyes and marches into the cabin on the deck and slams the door. Agitated voices can be heard between husband and wife, but their entire context cannot be deciphered. Only the words ‘crazy’, ‘twit’, ‘menace’, and ‘our boat’ can be heard. But one word does make it to his ears, ‘hero’. A smile creeps across his masked face as he settles down into the corner. A familiar seagull landing atop his head to rest, as the waves slowly rock the boat’s inhabitants to sleep...SQUAWK! Spoiler Just Some Sutican Fun~ Love ya Greek!
