Why do guns and rifles belong in a medieval fantasy setting? Could anyone elaborate? If you can't, then it's because they don't belong.

We have massive siege machines that are effectively sci-fi laser guns and you're upset about wands shaped like firearms?

If my character can use a "wand" without ever learning magic there is an issue.

Remove them.

You can do that with normal wands, nobody had a problem with that.

The difference is that these siege machines belong in a fantasy setting, magical guns don't. They're also not realistic ballistics-wise, early muskets were primitive and inaccurate, people still preferred crossbows and longbows over the musket due to it's lack of accuracy. They also had a tendency to blow up in the user's face if they put in too much gun powder. The same should be true for magic "wands" that resemble muskets. They should backfire and be incredibly inaccurate at long ranges.

So how does a giant laser gun fit in a fantasy setting, but not a magical pistol/rifle? I'm confused. Why does a magic wand need to follow the physics of a lead ball, let alone blow up in a user's face? That's not how offensive enchantments work.

My MAIN gripe with magic guns is that they're restricted to Voidal Mages. It's incredibly unfair to pretty much everyone else.

Just because a portion RPs like it's the medieval times doesn't necessarily glue the theme of LOTC to medieval fantasy. It's a fantasy server with a collective storytelling aspect which means there are many many themes on LOTC. One of those themes is magic that is so ingrained into the world that it justifies itself as science.

They need to follow the physics of a lead ball and blow up in the users face so the mage can't just run across Johannesburg and RP kill every single guard. It's pretty OP and needs a set of weaknesses, also, magic guns that function off of runes instead of mana could replace magic wands in the case of descendants. Another alternative is to actually invent muskets and flintlocks as we have gunpowder.

You do realize magic guns aren't rapid fire, right? You can't run into Jberg and gun down every single guard because it takes as long to cast through a magic gun as it does to just cast a normal spell. Next time you decide to argue about something please be sure to actually read the lore first.

The issue with what you're saying is that people are dumb, if they can thin the line they will. It's already happened and will continue to happen.

And how would it be any different if you wrote lore for runic or black powder weaponry? I do agree that if there's going to be firearms they shouldn't be reserved just for voidal mages, but no matter where it comes from it needs a clear guide so people don't abuse it.

Well with the current lore You need a high tiered mage to make the gun, enchant it and load it. I'd like to see firearms such as blackpowder but with an application to use them and a blacklist for abusers. Something non mages can utilize and create on their own.

If I wrote lore for such weapons I would also close the doors for any further advancement and I would even place red lines so people can't thin the lines.

Post the lore then m8 why not. If we got magic guns for mages, dwarves get rune guns let us have black powder

I think if there's any technological advancement in LotC it shouldn't be a carbon copy of real life devices, that's boring and predictable. Firearms your average joe can use? Yes. Should he have to be properly taught how to use it first? Yes. Should it be black powder? No.
