MOST RIGHTEOUS COMMISSION; THE COMPACT OF METZ

9th of Malin's Welcome, 1595

For many a year have we remained silent on the rot instilled into our good country, vile heresies, and affronts to our mother Church, uttered from the once esteemed Halsworthy and his companion the Raevir Abram. No longer will that be the case. One cannot in good conscious concede to the frayed example of a few, one cannot abandon the principles abided by the Canon over the course of millennia. Heresy cannot be tolerated and those of opportunistic disposition curbed.

The Mother Church since before the Schism War and after, has provided stability to the realm and peace to the spirit. To turn from such tradition would be for naught. There is no ‘Imperial Pontiff,’ only the High Pontiff of our only True Faith. It is a quandary in itself, to think the Holy Father’s election a farce, when all were gathered in the Cathedral of St. Thomas for his election by all the Clergy of the Realm, summoned to answer the call as is the law of the Fundamentum Ecclesiae writ by the Pontiff Theodosius. That much is plain.

Lorraine is a faithful land, and surely must continue to be such. To turn away from Canonist tradition would be to forfeit the most apostolic of posts, and so we denounce the Lotharic Schismatics and their heretical break for the good of our faith and for the wellbeing of our people. Thus by righteous command, we proud Canonists compact together in union, a League of Canonists, united in common belief.

WE IN LORRAINE SWEAR

  • To remain faithful to the Canonist Church and it’s true teachings.
  • To obstruct and condemn heresies within their holdings.
  • To guarantee free movement to Priests of the Canon within their holdings Permit free travel of Canonist priests within their Lordships.
  • To offer them lodgings, and promise them safe passage.
  • To rally to the aid of the Church and fellow member-states should they be threatened by the heretic or the pagan..
  • To assist the Church and fellow member-states

THE PONTIFICATE GUARANTEES

  • That the Faith Militant and the Church shall be permitted to investigate Lordly estates only with the express approval of the sovereign.
  • That the Church shall prioritize its clerical assignments to member states, to be sure that no true Canon state goes without a capable priesthood.
  • That the Church shall impose no binding law, arbitrary or otherwise upon signed member-states.
  • That the Church shall provide for their defense, it's levied Faith Militant.
  • That the Count of Chambery, once direct vassal to the Crown, is now bound to directly in service to the Faith
