Player Retention

As someone who was basically a New Player all throughout Asulon and Anthos, what made the difference was getting involved with a guild or nation, that is it. We don't need to provide safe spaces for players or get rid of some imagined difficulties that are faced. I can say wholeheartedly that what troubles and mistreatment I faced as a new player were due to my own blundering, and being told off for it has helped me grow substantially as a person and as a player.

No offence Sha but I've seen how you handle new players and I'll just say this; you baby them beyond belief. The players that I've seen in your care reflect this, they don't mature, they simply stagnate and end up either quitting the server anyway or joining another nation and learning what they need from them.

That said I do agree with some of your points despite the bad influence I proclaim you to have. Though I disagree specifically with getting one to join a settlement specifically. Players should join nations, legitimate groups with legitimate goals and branch out from there. On bandit roleplay I would also disagree. It's an integral part of realizing that things don't always go your way on this server, and entices players to once again; come join a nation for protection. We don't need to coddle players, we need to call them on their crap when they do it and praise them when they add something worthwhile to the community, else we'll end up with more Drfates, and I simply don't want that.

This guy pretty much said what I aimed to say.

I actually am taking a different approach, literally all I do is teach them the system, put them in the nation they want to go, and leave them there.  I have them BL me incase they have questions, and then from there, they're on their own unless they need to know something.  I maybe involve myself an hour or two to them?

I left Athera right after that mess in Polaris, I came back this past August. I was bored out of my skull and, honestly, if it wasn't for one or two people deciding to chat me up I'd have quit again. It would have been a pity, truly, because I've had a lot of fun here. I met some really cool people here and might even have helped them get set up. Really, all it takes is one or two people to RP with you, show you what's going on, then let the bird flee the nest.
