Blood in the summer

Months of planning had been undertaken for the event about to unfold, with the gathering of the most elite of Human Magi and working as many cogs into place as possible. In Stafyr colors, Kristoff led the way into town.

Their ride from Lotharingia had been uneventful, the carriage lightly bumping on the gravel road leading into the city of Lorath. There, the retinue disembarked and was met by a Dark Elven mage of unknown origins and the current Lord Stafyr, Eadwulf of Raetia. On the street did they meet with two more lightly armed men, walking into the chamber. In the Privy Council chambers did the plot unfold, with what originally appeared to be Kristoff moving to Mardon by talking to the Ker.

Their true intentions, however, had nothing to do with that. Kristoff had no intention of leaving Lotharingia, and Adrien was not there to support his brother. The Dark Elf had no connection to the Mardonic government, and the two men from the street were disguised men of Kristoff’s retinue.

Their blood ties to Eadwulf were weaker than the brothers’ to the Carrions, but to a Stafyr their commitments of honor, law, and loyalty stood almost above all else. Almost, however, was the key word here - for the defense of their House’s ancient prestige, they would wrest control from the line of Galtor, the second brother, and return it to the line of the first brother Hanethor from which every Lord Stafyr until the Fringe had been descended.

As they entered the chambers and Kristoff conversed with the Dark Elf, Adrien signalled to their followers.  With a torrent of magical steam, water, and fire, Eadwulf was quickly subdued by the mages as Adrien revealed his true plan - to claim the Duchy of Raetia for himself. He would allow Eadwulf to surrender peacefully and survive if he abdicated the duchy. Eadwulf declined.

By Honor.

Eadwulf struggled still, Adrien forced to issue him an ultimatum - to surrender the duchy, or to die. Eadwulf tried to fight back once more with his pike. He was never given the chance.

By Law.

As Eadwulf’s throat was slit by a guard of the retinue, the stern-faced bannermen of Kristoff took their tokens and returned to their home, Adrien staying in the city, leaving the body of Eadwulf behind for the court to find.

By Loyalty.

Eadwulf would read the letter.. He feels around his neck as he feels the scar that was left "Let it be known... That i am not yet dead..."  He looks around his city "I am thankful i was safed... I will take revenge to those vile pretanders..." He feels down his leg as he feels the burnmarks He shakes one more time "I am not yet dead..."
