Your End; My Beginning

Spoiler

Cenwall Maeyr'onn,

Not only have you betrayed me, but you have betrayed your people. Now I see why your true father was lost to insanity, he had to deal with scum like you. You are a disappointment to him, and your people. You have failed.

Today I address the people of Atlas. Today I reveal all the secrets Haelun'or harbors, and today I reveal my true intent. On some level, I am proud of the council of the Sohaerate. They have taken up a magic most would eschew, in an attempt to preserve their power.

At first, many of you will not believe the words I have to say. I will keep it short and simple, listing the crimes against the descendants the council of the Sohaerate of Haelun'or and it's leader Cenwall Maeyr'onn have done. I will then tell you what they did to me an elven night ago, strapped upon an alter and toyed with. Evark Evocress said it best- Varen'thal is no more, he should have nothing to hide.

I. The Crimes

- Cenwall Maeyr'onn and the Council of the Sohaerate of Haelun'or harbor the mad puppeteer, Evark Evocress. He has used his magic to change his identity- going under many false names such as Loin'Gale or Viciret'Mal. He can be recognized, however, by his purple robes.

- Cenwall Maeyr'onn and the some of the members of the Council of the Sohaerate of Haelun'or take lessons from Evark Evocress, learning the dark magic of Soul Puppetry.

- Cenwall Maeyr'onn, Evark Evocress, and Arelion Laurir'Ante tortured and put a truth curse over Varen'thal Len'irrin, a long known leader of the Silver Sohaerate of Haelun'or, having founded the title Sohaerate and the Kharajyr vassal.

- Cenwall Maeyr'onn pushed his father, Gildor Glaeus, the renown Haelun'orian war hero, into a pit of snakes, his madness overtaking him.

II. The Torture of Varen'thal Len'irrin

- Cenwall Maeyr'onn, Evark Evocress, and Arelion Laurir'Ante took Varen'thal into a cave, under the guise that they would be using a truth stone to see recent events that had transpired. The truth stone was in actuality a truth curse from a puppet.

- Cenwall Maeyr'onn, Evark Evocress, and Arelion Laurir'Ante used a curse to send Varen'thal's legs into a state of numbness, not allowing him to leave and placing him on an alter table.

- If Varen'thal did not answer or comply, Cenwall Maeyr'onn, Evark Evocress, and Arelion Laurir'Ante had threatened to send wolf spider venom into his ankle, one of the most powerful venom's to date.

- They forced Varen'thal to reveal some of his most kept secrets, exposing the elf in every way imaginable.

- Cenwall Maeyr'onn, Evark Evocress, and Arelion Laurir'Ante attempted to force Varen'thal to do everything they wanted- saying they would kill him with a curse in one elven week if he does otherwise.

- When Varen'thal's brother came to his aid, Evark Evocress knowingly sent Varen'thal into a coma, attempting to fake his death.

- Cenwall Maeyr'onn, Evark Evocress, and Arelion Laurir'Ante are attempting to spread lies that Varen'thal Len'irrin is a necromancer, to ensure their public view stays intact.

III. Varen'thal Len'irrin's Crimes

- Varen'thal Len'irrin was a soul puppeteer himself.

- Varen'thal Len'irrin is known for spitting at Maheral's feet.

- Varen'thal Len'irrin openly acknowledged that he would betray the Sohaerate if it ever took a "Kalenz Uradir route".

- Varen'thal Len'irrin has consulted with beings of the dark in the past.

Many of you will not believe me. For that reasoning, I have included a letter from the cleric that saved me from these curses, in one last attempt to gain your trust on the matter. For any and all who read this, do not let the Sohaerate continue it's crimes.

Spoiler

To the Kharajyr Vassal,

Be wary- fret. Varen'thal was the anchor that ensured your safety. Do not trust the current council. Initium meum.

Spoiler

From a concerned cleric,

Recently, the one known as 'Varen'thal' was afflicted by a Soul Puppetry curse, set upon his very soul by one 'Evark Evocress'. This is an aberrant decision, a dark magic that must be purged from the plane. This 'Evark' has done something unspeakable, but even more unspeakable was the fact that this very act was perpetuated by none other than the High Elven Council of Haelun'or. Heretics and dark fiends, the lot of you. A cancer to be removed, a tumour to be excised.

Those who feel that they are under the effect of a Soul Puppetry curse are to go to any nearby Clerics of sufficient skill, most being located within Sutica. There, tell them of the affliction upon you, whereupon it shall be lifted. If you suspect any of being practitioners of this dark magic, report it firstly to the guards of your local community, and then the Clerics of Tahariae.

The light abides.

From the Remnants of Varen'thal Len'irrin, wherever he may be.

The reknown military leader and mage is dead, his identity born anew.

If he held unfinished business with you.. oh well.

(No, Varen'thal is not PKed. He didn't die. He has simply changed his identity, to be more clear on the above sentences.)

Carsandra reads the letter, frowning "I have no idea who half these people are...or what soul puppetry is...it sounds really scary though...and whoever this guy is also sounds scary..."

"Didn't this man reveal half of the dark beings in Haelun'or after being forced to do so?" Elrith the Okarir'leyun remarks, looking over the parchment.

Arkanos laughed, and laughed and laughed.

"I went and I spoke. And you all laughed at me! Shamed me! Now you see the true face of the putrid rule the Maeyr'onn casts upon us! Cursed may he and his lineage be!"

"I sure am surprised, High Elves are spooks. Quick, someone ring the alarm." Karyssmov Faroe sarcastically states after reading the notice. "Is this supposed to be something surprising?"

Irhamir's shoulder raise a tad, an ever so slight shrug, "Haelun'or is far from relevant today. Who cares about their madmen?"

"I have no quarrel with the use of Dark Arts," the Second Judge idly mused, staring into the embers of a desolate flame upon hearing the news.  "The issue is with those who manipulate, those who abuse.  Those who lie, and deceive.  The duplicitious nature of Haelen'or, who proclaim purity and harbor the maleficar—the clerics—is what I take issue in."

Sataric stirred his bladed within the hungering flame, poking the embers about.  The Judge removed his blade when its metal shone red, and set it aside for the brisk air to quench in the long night of the mountain.

"No one who practices in deceit shall dwell in my house; no one who utters lies shall continue before my eyes."
