THE ARMY OF THE BLACK WOLF

Issued by His Excellency, the Lord Marshal of the Duchy of Vintas and confirmed by His Grace, the Duke of Vintas, 4th of Horen’s Calling, 1730

The Army of the Black Wolf has the duty of defending the Duchy of Vintas, including the Ducal family and the Ducal capital and its surroundings. The supreme command of the Army of the Black Wolf belongs to the Duke of Vintas, who can act beyond the chain of command if he finds it necessary. The members of the Army of the Black Wolf get paid every saint week according to their rank.

 

The origins of the Army of the Black Wolf have to be found in the old County of Vintas, at that time located in the Crownlands of Cascadia, when the Black Guard was formed to protect the Comital family. Eventually, the number of soldiers that were part of the Black Guard grew exponentially, ending up with the formation of the Army of the Black Wolf.

RANKS

Lord Marshal: is the maximum commander of the Army of the Black Wolf, only outranked by the Duke himself. He is charged with overseeing the Army of the Black Wolf and its fortifications, barracks, armories, and with the defense of the Duchy of Vintas in times of war. He has the power to promote, demote, or expel any members of the army as he sees fit.

 

High Captain: is the second-in-command of the Army of the Black Wolf, only outranked by the Lord Marshal and the Duke himself. The High Captain is selected by the Lord Marshal amongst the existing captains of the army and has the power to promote, demote or expel any member of the army as he sees fit. 

 

Captains: are the highest officers of the Army of the Black Wolf, only outranked by the High Captain, the Lord Marshal and the Duke himself. They have the duty of overseeing and supervising the rest of the members of the army, and have the power to organize trainings, patrols and to promote, demote or expel any member of the army until the Sergeant rank as they see fit.

 

Lieutenants: are officers of the Army of the Black Wolf that have proven to be brave and skillful commanders. They have the duty of overseeing the rest of the members of the army, and have the power to organize patrols and to promote, demote or expel any member of the army until the Man-At-Arms rank as they see fit.

 

Sergeants: are members of the Army of the Black Wolf that have proven their skill in leading groups of people, and as so they have the power to organize patrols as they see fit and man the city gates.

 

Men-At-Arms: are members of the Army of the Black Wolf that have successfully proven their strength in combat, and as so they have the power to man the city gates. 

 

Soldiers: are members of the Army of the Black Wolf that have successfully proven their loyalty to the Duchy.

 

Recruits:  are people who have recently joined the army. As members of the Army of the Black Wolf they have the right to be given a sword, a shield and an armor to protect the Duchy of Vintas and its people.
