Grand Feasts, family of choice, expression and freedom. Those were the ideals that the Kyu’vera Clan was established on. While they would never be the oldest, powerful, or renown clan amongst their kinsman, the Kyu’vera would always be free. Unbound to show their true colors and express themselves however and whenever they wished.

Because of this the Kyu’varia tended to be nomadic in nature, moving at the want and whims of the Clan’s family members. With no place to truly call home much of the lore was lost from both memory and record leaving behind a forgotten history.

  Clan Characteristics

The Kyu’vera has been well known for adopting ‘strays’ both officially and unofficially, leaving the main bloodline with very undefined characteristics. Dark Elven, they tend to have darker than average skin with large purple eyes that varies in shade from member to member. Typically they are of average height, again, with variations dependant on the other parent, with more heavy-set physiques.

In personality it is very rare that the Kyu’vera share anything in common, each being almost eerily unique in personality and preferences. Passion for their craft, a love of food (usually a specific item), and a large set of lungs, are the few things most if not all that clan members share. They are usually seen as odd from the perspective of outsiders with loud mouths with very different, if not clashing personalities.

Traditions and Stories

Because of the loss of the many older traditions and practices, those that remain and held in very high regard by living members.

  Birthdays

As for any Elf, most birthdays are something to be brushed off with the knowledge that it hardly affects their daily life. Though the Kyu’vera actively celebrate several of the ‘big numbers’, usually accompanied by a blowout party for the public and then a smaller, but no less unenthusiastic with their family. Ages five, fifty, and one-hundred are very important to the Clan; the first is usually accompanied by a nickname that the child is given to be used by Clan-Only. The second is a coming of age, while not completely uncommon that a clan member already married and had children before, turning fifty is when they are actually recognized as a fully fledged adult. One-Hundred is a sign of survival, with a surprisingly bloody past it was once rare that they reach the (still young) age of one hundred. Modernly, this is treated as more of an excuse to throw a party.

 Naming

While other clans may have their own specific ways of naming their young, the exact methods and reason is left up to the parents to decide. This name is given and used by both family and outsiders for use, it serves as a placeholder for the child to grow into before they can choose their own name. At five, the head(s) of the clan give the child a nickname, to be used by the clan and only clan. Usually it is a defining feature of the child in question (a favorite food, pet, etc) and is the only name that will be permanently stuck to the child. At twenty, they are given the opportunity to change their given name - though most choose to keep the one given to them by their parents.

 Religion & Funerals

The majority of the Kyu’vera follow traditional Dark Elven religion through the practice of ancestral worship. Like most other things, this is not very enforced and as long as the member in question isn’t doing any harm to themselves or others they are free to follow whatever religion they want. Funerals vary from member to member, with members encouraged to write a will to be left behind in the case of their death with instructions on how to plan the funeral. Most choose a simple cremation and service, however there was an older Kyu’vera who wanted to thrown into the sea with a service that demanded alcohol and a celebration that lasted into the early hours of the next day,

 Courting & Marriage

Similarly to many of their other traditions, the Kyu’vera have very odd but straightforward courting methods. Typically the member would try to woo their potential partner with their select set of skills (a chef would leave them baked goods, a florist would give them flowers, a bard would serenade them, etc.) If these methods do not work, they oddly refer to a typical high elven method of courting and write poems and sonnets to their potential partner.

Marriage however, is an excuse to party. Therefore the Kyu’vera always have loud and extravagant weddings with lots of alcohol and food. Typically the wedding is officiated by either the matriarch/patriarch of the family or an elder priest of Ancestralism. Though depending on the two that are to wed, the ceremonies can be drastically different.

  Family Tree

The Kyu’vera were originally a very bloody clan with fights both internal and external. It was rare that a member of the clan made it to fifty, and the arts of fighting were pushed on the young of the clan as soon as they could toddle. After losing his brother, the oldest known Kyu’vera split from the family and ran away with his bride. They rejected the core principles of their clan and instead chose to found a new one, a new start for their future children.

Founded on the love of family and freedom, the Kyu’vera were odd even among  each other. Many were adopted into the clan so a solid line of blood relations is difficult to manage, though there is a small list of known Kyu’vera.

Daichia stares blankly for a moment. Glancing around the Onyx Sanctum. "Kyu'vera? Is there a Kyu'vera here?". Daichia strode forth. Checking every clan spire for the name. "It's not here?". It would seem someone if lost and confused. Daichia would return to his own spire, gathering food and travel gear. To hunt down a name he had never heard before.

Kairn notes the passive aggression of a certain individual in making a roleplay reference to an ooc informational thread regarding a clan family. He then shrugs and gives the writer of the thread a +1.
