THE TAPESTRY OF MAN

TO UNDERSTAND THE FABRIC OF STATE

The 1st Statement of the Basrid Ministry

We have that lucky fortune to witness a genesis in Orenian thought. The last century of turmoil and troubles has not yet concluded, and our country still suffers aggression - but in the face of such adversity, Oren yet innovates in a cultural landscape otherwise barren. Luminaries such as the veteran Premier Frederick Armas of Kaedrin in Letters From a Farmer in Kaedrin and Duke Joseph Clement of Adria in On Pessimism have made strides in awakening a national consciousness among the country - an understanding of why Oren matters.

In the Novellen Palace reliquary one may find the Tapestry of Jrent, an illuminating scroll revealing the condition of man at the end of the thirteenth century. We see a world at the onset of literacy and recorded history, one that reveals the birth and ascendancy of St. King Daniel and the majesty of his council in re-uniting the various tribes and polities of that antiquity. The embroidered cloth ends with the saint in august glory, crowned REX DANIEL AVTEM AL KHAZAR. To our ancestors, the coronation was the pinnacle of human achievement, binding together man under one tradition for the first time since the days of yore.

And yet we were capable of so much more. The age of prophecy saw the ascendancy of man as preeminent power among the Descendents. Above all else, the legacy of Exalted is in that of their administration, crafting and preserving a state that no peer Descendent could not ever hope to mirror in political unity and diversity of culture and thought. In the periods of schism and divide under Vydra and Savoy, these traditions were honed and maintained into the art of renaissance - where chivalry and faith flowered, defining a high culture of humanity built upon the histories of our prophets and our empire.

And from that place, the Johannians gave us the absolutism of state and the Pertinaxi mastery of modern war - and we begin to realize that the innovation espoused in the Tapestry of Jrent does not end in King Daniel’s coronation, but is an endless font by which we continue to weave a greater Tapestry of Man.

The Tapestry of Man is Horen’s magnum opus, and we continue his work with our actions.

We live in auspicious times by which a new grand chapter is at the cusp of authorship - a cabal of heroes in Haense, Helena, Curon, and Kaedrin bind together to tirelessly etch further legend into this great work. Our good Premier of Kaedrin defined it as such: “to be an Orenian means nothing other than to be a human.” Each and every act we take to benefit the Orenian nation adds to our tapestry and ensures the legacy of man is maintained.

All should ponder how they wish to be revealed in this great tradition of history - a hero that performed diligence and sacrifice to elevate the condition of man, or a villain that traded the common good for petty spoils?

I have faith that we live in good company, in spite of The Troubles and their harbingers. The arc of Oren and her imperials will continue to reflect innovation over indolence - the tapestry we guard that defines our fabric of state yet endures.

From his throne at the head of the state dinner in Simon’s honor, Peter III made a raving review after reading this missive.

“Beautiful!” The Emperor remarked, viscerally pleased with Simon’s finished product. “I am glad to have had a mind and soul such as yours at my side all this time, Simon. We are truly blessed. Truly.”

Dietrich van Jungingen, the greatest contemporary Orenian poet, is offended that he and his work - or any work of Haense for that matter - have not been mentioned.
