To the Govenor-General,

News has recently reached me, in the chapel of St. Thomas in Kaedrin, that the church in your capital city was attacked and desecrated. An unknown person or persons managed to bring enough explosives into Avalain, unnoticed, and ignite them in the empty church. The explosion blowing apart the very foundations of the church and rendering it nothing more than a ruin, desecrating the holy site much like the sons of Malin had done to Pontian’s corpse. This startling attack on our most holy institution can not go unanswered therefore we humbly request any information you have pertaining to this attack be brought to myself so that it can assist in our investigation and we request your investigator meet with myself in Kaedrin as soon as possible.

This brazen attack on the Holy Canonist Church most likely performed by either a heretic living in the city or somebody who vehemently disagrees with the churches teachings or the church as an institution. This attack however does not come as a shock when currently your very own Senator spits venom and publicly degrades the Canonist Church and its teachings, she herself being a heretic afterall. When such a public figure, who is effectively the face of Curon, spouts such falsities and blasphemy, it is only a matter of time before one acts on her words.

We are however most confused why no official from Curon had informed us this attack had occurred or requested our assistance with investigating its perpetrators. We are also deeply puzzled why no attempt to reconstruct the holy site from its ruins were made, instead destroying the ruins entirely and replacing it with an awful impractical farm and a very small white and yellow tent for the Canonists to pray within. We would like to remind you that destroying a church, or ruins of one which has not been de-consecrated is still sacrilege.

Cardinal Boniface, Auditor of the Tribunal.

Vivaca Rutledge’s eyes widen, shaking her head “Nonsense. The church was destroyed by Norlanders a few years ago, destroying any place of worship is a vile thing regardless if you disagree with the faith. I believe the Norlanders who set ablaze the church escaped. Bunch of no good terrorists. I do agree that the government of Curon should’ve informed the Church though!” Senator Vivaca Rutledge said, leaning back in her chair.

“I believe I can answer that.” Wilheim said. “There was a public announcement made that a church in Curon had been burned, and was not able to be saved. Many Haensetis watched the rubble fall, as it could not be saved under premise that it would just fall apart during mass and kill any inside.” Wilheim flipped to start a next page. “We are currently taking down the city, and have walled off most of our kindgom for a demolition. As for the tent, I sought to perhaps give at least a space for canonists while the rest of the city is reconstructed, instead of giving them no place at all.”

“If you’d like to replace the tent with something better, by all means do so; I’m not a good tent builder, and I only tried my best to give Canonists a place to worship while the area is reconstructed. The fact that no one has noticed this until now is beyond me, and it just shows you how least often the clergy even want to enter Curon, not even to hold mass or promote canonism.”

A copy of the statement issued by the Office of the Governor-General is mailed to the Cardinal.

A note is attached as well.

Cardinal,

A public statement was put out a very long time ago. We are in the process of drafting blueprints for a completely new city. Hence, we were not bothered by the terrorist act, as a new church building is being planned. We intend on reaching out to the church in the near future to discuss that effort.

Your connection between the Senator and the burning is silly at best and libelous at worst. Please cease from attacking Ms. Rutledge’s name in future. This act was committed by a lone, ignorant terrorist and it is minor in nature. A new church will be built, better and bigger than the old, in time.

Thank you,

Sylvester VI Gabriel Halcourt

Governor-General of Curon
