A post is nailed to each den door of the Sanctum.

”Dear resident. It’s come to our attention that over all and daily spiritual devotion is lower than desired. Many look at the spirits and see only sacrifices. If you are struggling with your own creativity or simply are dull, have no fear. The following will contain standard ritual practice for every day. This is to help other spirits than Luara gaze their eyes upon you. To know only one spirit, is to shun the rest. Many can say they have faith, so let’s put that to the test. “

Overall worship concepts:

Spoiler

Praise: This is done by giving chant to a spirits name, their will and belief. Commonly, praise is done with more than chanting. The more devote of the spirits will carry rattles, drums, and the sort to dance, play and sing as they conduct offerings.

Fire: Fire is how offerings transcend this mortal plain and move onto the next.

Offerings: Typically, these are burnable. However none burnable offerings are commonly placed around a spirits shrine or altar.

Sacrifices: Contrary to popular belief, whilst the spirits do not mind mortal sacrifices. Most can be appeased with none mortal sacrifices and namely, offerings. Some spirits will shun any who conduct live sacrifices in their name. (Such spirits as Akezo, Isuz.) Too many sacrifices and or poorly done, will result in a spirits direct anger at you.

Step one 1: Early Morning: Awaken and offer thanks to Dazkur and Deltrhok. Dazkur, the Greater Immortal spirit of loyalty and protection (For keeping you safe another day.) An offering to Dazkur can be simple. The act of protecting, or in a more simple case. Deltrhok, The Greater Immortal spirit of dreams and slumber.

Offering to Dazkur

  • The Devotee must gain a bowl and seek out to find fresh milk from an animal. (Spoiled milk will upset the spirit). Offerings that can burn are to be placed within the bowl. Such as flowers, berries, grain from harvest. Next, a fire is prepared.
  • If not located near a shrine or altar of Dazkur, simply give loud yelling praise to Dazkur. With fire made and offering bowl prepared. The devotee pours the milk and offerings slowly over the flames. To cause the milk to burn and bubble on logs, and offerings turn to smoke. Which will ascend to the realm beyond.

Offering to Deltrhok.

  • The Devotee must record their own dreams if remember, or seek out another to learn of their dreams. Next, above ground, a fire is made. Which is used to transcend offerings to the land beyond. For this, a meal will suffice. Create two dishes, one for yourself, and one for offering. After you have made both meals. Take the offering meal in hand.
  • As above, if not near a shrine or altar of Deltrhok, give loud shouts of praise to the spirit. Slowly, burn sections of the offering meal into the fire whilst giving praise to the lord of sleep.
  • Once each section is burned, sit down to enjoy your meal in turn and get a start of the day.

Step 2: Early Morning: The elementals. They help make life possible, and unlike Immortal Spirits. Elementals do not require mortal praise to be. Though they still enjoy praise.

Spoiler

Offering to Niezdark, Elemental of Storms

  • The Devotee ideally selects a time during a storm to praise the spirit. However, is not required. Niezdark is a wild spirit, a small sacrifice shall do here. First, capture a rabbit or small animal. Only the one. Next, prepare the sacrifice. The following example has been made for rabbits.
  • Make an incision down the chest. Take your knife and cut fully around the neck and each leg. You will notice that the rabbit has a layer of fat between their actual flesh. (Most animals have this layer of fat.). Using your hands, skin the rabbit. Pull apart the chest incision and if done correctly up to this point. Most of the hide should slip right off the rabbit.
  • Keep the hide, and let it soak in an alcoholic beverage of choice. Make another incision down the chest, to remove the organs. Go ahead and wrap removed organs in the hide. Next, fill the rabbit with offerings. Such as flowers, cheeses, berries and small edible things. Next, prepare a fire.
  • With the fire made, if not near a Niezdark shrine or altar, give loud praise. Then, burn the hide first. Wait until it is fully ash before offering the body of the rabbit to the realm beyond.

Offering to Kulthark, Elemental of Metal

  • The Devotee finds a piece of metal or enters a mine to find ore. Kulthark, Elemental of metal will accept many offerings. It is easier than such however, as no other act than smelting down metal and using it pleases Kulthark greatly. If Devotee lacks metallurgy knowledge, seek one with such. Simply give praise loudly to Kulthark during this time if not located near an altar or shrine.
  • Next, place the metal upon a shrine or altar to Kulthark. If one is not found, one must be constructed.

Offering to Skathach, Elemental of Fire

  • The most easy to do, one must simply create any fire and give praise around it to Skathach. Being the spirit of fire, Skathach enjoys the act of its creation. The more devoted place offerings within the flames as well.

Offering to Akathro, Elemental of Water

  • Much like Skathach. Find a body of water, make a fire and conduct praise and offerings. If the body of water has filth within it, clean it before departing to gain favor with Akathro. This spirit enjoys fish and sea life as sacrifices.

Offering to Bregthar, Elemental of Earth

  • As seen above, find a mountain or cavern. Make a fire and conduct praise and offering. Bregthar enjoys minerals, and stones. Cave dwelling animals like bats and bugs make ideal sacrifices.

Offering to Fiarza, Elemental of Air.

  • Head to an open area. Make a fire. in addition, bring wind chimes or some sort of lung based instrument. Hang up the wind chimes or play the instrument in between chants and dances of praise. Fiarza enjoys avian creatures as their ideal sacrifice.

Step 3: Mid Day: Immortal Spirits:

There are many, many immortals. This time in the day should be used to give praise to an immortal or few. The more devote tend to do as much as they can, however, simply praising a different Immortal each day works fine. This example, will use Akezo.

Spoiler

Offering to Akezo, Great Immortal Spirit of Healing

  • Akezo dislikes any creature sacrificed in their name. Sacrificing any creature to Akezo will result in the spirits direct anger at you. Easy way to give this spirit praise is by healing others, teaching medical practices, tending the wounded of  a battlefield or so on.
  • Offerings done, should not contain any living creature. However, items such as animals milk, picked flowers, berries and harvest, do just fine with the spirit.

Step 4: Late day: Ancestors

The Ancestors are a stable of Maehr Culture. From the great and mighty Krug, to the Dalmakia trio. Many have their own ancestors, and we implore you to praise your direct own during this time. Ancestral offerings range from anywhere to personal things that the spirit enjoyed in life. To valuables. Ancestral spirits follow the same rules as other spirits with offerings. Many ancestors have their own prayers.

If you’re looking for offering ideas to an ancestor, read above. Any of the rituals preformed can generally be applied to other spirits.
