17th of Harren’s Folly, 1781

Sir Alren DeNurem descends from the ancient kings of Hanseti and the masters of the Teutonic Order, one of the influential 14th and 15th century military organizations which spearheaded the gradual transition from traditional feudal levies towards professional state armies. True to his family’s legacy extending to the foundation of the Empire, he served as a soldier in the Imperial State Army during the Seventh Nordling War, swiftly rising through the ranks on account of his tremendous martial aptitude and tireless disposition as an officer. Appointed as General and Secretary of War of His Imperial Majesty’s forces, Sir Alren DeNurem secured victory against the massive coalition seeking to dismantle Oren. In tandem, he expanded the State Army’s ranks tremendously while asserting an unprecedented standard of discipline, professionalism, and education for all soldiers of the Crown. At the attempted incursion by Caedric and the Nordlings, DeNurem flawlessly carried out the Emperor’s orders to disarm every member of the warband. He continued to secure the country against Nordling and bandit raids in the wake of the war, as well as ensuring many successful defensive and offensive operations during the short-lived Merryweather War. He saw through the Emperor’s work in restoring the lost formula to blackpowder, returning and refining a weapon fundamental to Orenian supremacy. Currently, General Alren DeNurem demonstrates intrepid strategic command in the struggle against the Inferi demons through tactics on the field and intelligence in drawing rooms. He recently executed a flawless evacuation of the entire island of Korvassa, setting the stage for victory to come.

For these reasons, among numerous more, His Imperial Majesty has seen fit to grant General Alren DeNurem the rank and honor of Four Star.

Sir Alaric DeNurem stood idly at his bedroom's balcony, his forearms braced against the brick fencing surrounding the area. The young Highlander overlooking the once vivid buildings, now serene as darkness took hold of the sky. That man carried a rolled-up missive underneath his arm, the contents yet unknown. A few minutes passed of more sightseeing, till the Captain decided to pry open the seal.

At first glance, Alaric's eyes widened to the notice, despite being told hours prior, the swift message took him by wonderment. His gaze fixed completely on the contents he read with each look, till at the end, the aspiring DeNurem's lips curled into a prideful, broad smile, to his father's grand achievements, his right hand stiff as lifted to rest upon his brow - the ISA salute displayed in the still of the night, casting a glance at Viktoriya-Marie.

"Qunnie beu meinae Rodit, doe OrdernMarschall Alren. Beliae doe Oren."

Alaric spoke in his ancient, long forgotten, mother-tongue, a reminder of his family’s legacy.

Lieutenant Viktoriya-Marie would peer down at the paper, wiping sweat from her brow as she'd read on, taking a break from her work. A large, half-excavated cavern lay ahead of her – heavy piles of debris ahead, several dozen broken pickaxe heads scattering the ground below. A smile would form upon her visage, using an armored hand to form the Imperial State Army salute upon her breastplate as she’d read of the DeNurem’s promotion.

Ascending through the rickety lift she’d made, the Leftenant would clamber up their dwelling’s staircase to greet her fiance, Sir Alaric DeNurem, amidst his utterance, nodding along to his words despite not quite understanding what they’d meant.

”Alren DeNurem – t’white bull, humaniteh’s ‘ope. An extremleh well deserved elevation!”

Major Sir Thomas Alexander Aquila raises his gloved hand in salute while reading the missive concerning the General before grinning slightly and adding “His legacy shall be an example to follow for all future and present Officers and Enlisted of the Imperial State Army. I am proud to serve under him.”

Sergeant Ledicort d’Azor would read over the parchment upon his desk as he returned from a patrol with the new recruits. He looked upon the document as a light grin formed,  slowly but surely covering from ear to ear. Ledicort pulled out his tinderbox and lit a cigar as he inhaled, blowing out a large cloud of smoke. “General DeNurem, It is but most deserving that a man of his capability and leadership would arise to his standing. Truly the Imperial State Army stands stronger than ever with him at the lead.” He would smile as he finished off the document, “Long live the Empire, Long live Oren.” He whispered to himself as he prepared himself for the next day’s tasks for the new blood that would join the ranks of the Imperial State Army soon.
