NotEvilAtAll 10906 Share Posted November 10, 2020 Hello this is a thread where I'll put all my build stuff from now on. I hope other folks put things here too so I don't get lonely! Here's a build I made 'cause some lad in Halfling VC requested it: The terrain before I do any work on it. Outline Building the walls and ceiling. I did a hybrid superman ceiling design for this one. Haha waterfall go FSHHHHHH. Don't worry the vanilla tree gets replaced by something of my own creation later. Now the sides of it look less ugly. Just some stone and leaves to make it look less wonky and all that. I threw in some stones on the other side of the river 'cuz why not. Green concrete powder as a transition between the grass and the dirt/stone. I made a little custom tree as well. Second custom tree. I don't like this one as much as the first one. I'll do larger trees in the future because I'm probably better at those. The third and final custom tree. I changed the roots a bit later so it looks less huge, but you can see the wacky big ol' roots in this screenshot in all their glory. Finished build: I'd like to thank the super epic halfling 8.0 build team for showing me the cattail design I used here. It's very nice. I'll post more builds here when I make them. Notes to self: -Do more terraform builds. I'm weirdly good at them. -Maybe have some streams feed into the waterfall instead of it coming out of a spring? -Rip off Dalek348's builds and have a patch of flowers surrounded by stones like the ones I've built here. -Build bigger trees instead of smaller trees because I suck at small trees. NotEvilAtAll 10906 Author Share Posted November 11, 2020 Today I built something on the main LOTC server. Woah. I almost never do that. Filibert Applefoot, my main halfling character, has gone without a burrow in Bloomerville for far too long. Thus, I made him a burrow. Making the outline. A simple larger entrance room with a small bedroom attached to it. Going with a superman ceiling again because I love 'em to death. Finished interior. I'll change the campfire in the stove to a normal fire thing made with flint and steel 'cause I don't think the smoke looks good. Exterior. I'll likely remove the tree in front because it looks weird with a burrow next to it. This is right next to the hedge maze which I also built btw. Credit to @TakeMeT0TheFae for building the wonderful rest area in the maze, however. That is all for today. No notes to self 'cause I don't need them for this. NotEvilAtAll 10906 Author Share Posted November 11, 2020 Today I tried to experiment with wall sharing between burrows. It kinda sucked a bit for one of the burrows I made for this 'cause I used a different block palette than the burrow it shared a wall with, but that's alright I guess. Today's build is more of a proof of concept than an actual fleshed out build. I'll add onto it later if I have time (which I probably won't until next week or something). By putting burrow frames as physically close together as possible (literally sharing walls between them), I can build a lot of burrows in a smaller area than normal. That is what I hoped to achieve today. The beginning of the outline of the first burrow. Adding onto the first burrow. Finishing the walls and floor of the first burrow. Starting work on the second burrow's outline. Sadly, I had this entire burrow all be on one Y level for the flooring. It still turned out OK though. Very epic burrow woah. Just ignore how horribly square it is, it's not like it'll be all that visible from the exterior with the final result of today's building anyways. Now with floors and whatnot. Sorta forgot to give myself enough room for the third burrow. Oops. I started off using a different build palette than the rest of the build but I later changed it to fit better. Taa daaa? Just ignore that the wall material in the third burrow changes halfway through it and it's all perfect. Building the ceiling for all three burrows. Starting to cover it in grass. The build as it stands right now. I'll make the grass on top look less wonky in the future. Future plans for this include: -Small-ish burrow/cottage put on top of the other burrows due to how flat it is there? -Li'l fenced in farm on top of the burrows as well. -Custom trees, flowers, grass, all that fancy flora stuff. -Finishing the chimneys. -Adding a path to connect the burrows and whatever I build on top. That's all folks!
NotEvilAtAll 10906 Author Share Posted November 16, 2020 another build I followed this guide kinda: it has over a million views so I figured it'd check it out here's what I made: I'm bad at exteriors ok in which I fail to replicate the dimensions of the build Sorry sandstone, stripped jungle wood is my new best friend (thanks to @Burnsider for this entire build palette. Hillsborough gang rise up). woah epic layout I did the exterior a bit better yay now with grass over it and some jungle leaves (which I copied from some random person's 2013 hobbiton build check it out here: https://www.planetminecraft.com/project/hobbiton-download-link/ absolute madlad uses as many leaves as grass to cover hobbit holes. it's epic) sorry for not doing much here recently. I've been working over 30 hours a week at my part-time job and it's kinda AHHHHHHH inducing.
NotEvilAtAll 10906 Author Share Posted November 18, 2020 New speedrun: The Burrow Build Any% qualifications: -at least 3 separate, rounded rooms with unique decorations. -a window -covered in dirt -doesn't LOOK like it was built as a speedrun, somebody could actually live there and not be insane. My first attempt got like 23 minutes and 5 seconds or something. Not great but a good start. I built 4 rooms instead of 3 so obviously there's already room for a timesave there. Yeah I put this too far into the ground, ouch. Slight timeloss there since it made some exterior decoration harder, but it did save time in covering the burrow in dirt, which was nice. Frame, floor, walls. Mixed superman ceiling, except I changed it a bit so it's just generally weird. Probably could've saved a few seconds by being more orthodox in the ceiling design. FAST decoration skillz. I'm getting good at this. Li'l storage spot, not decorated yet. Final exterior. Final interior. I await NEW speedruns for this, hopefully with videos to go with it so the timing and whatnot isn't so informal. NerdyTheWordy, I challenge you to try and take this current word record!
