Mannyy 982 Share Posted May 19, 2021 A Journey to The Oasis A N N O D O M I N I 1820 Penned by the hand of TRH, Wilhelm Lucius, Baron of Carrington I began my journey in Providence, alongside a friend of mine Mattieu Halcourt, who’s mind was clearly also eager for exploration as he agreed to accompany me on. We became a bit held up by the strew of people who suddenly wished to speak to me and Matthieu though we managed to escape, starting our journey to The Oasis. After some walking, we truly begin our journey after having arrived at the hub of the Kharasi Oasis in the southern area. Soon, after a few hours of walking on aching feet we begin to approach the desired location. Immediately, me and my friend are met with a strange type of animal I’ve yet to see before in my lifetime. The animal bewilders Matthieu just as much as it does myself. The creature was huge, and grey with a large worm-like nose coming from the front of it. It made loud sounds, as if it were a trumpet of sorts * * We exchanged some nice pats with the animal, it seemed to be quite passive to our touch. After asking some of the local people, a young lady by the name of Juniper told us they are referred to by the people as ‘Elephants.’ A fun name for a playful beast! The woman seemed to touch and interact with the Elephants as if they were an old friend of hers, claiming they’ve been a part of the Oasis and Fakhir Tribe for far longer than she, and that despite being animals they had no master. Juniper, the young lady, was kind enough to act as our newfound tour guide on our journey through the Oasis and Fakhir Tribe. For that we are grateful, for we had no idea exactly where to go next! After leaving the Elephants to themselves, we walked down a small path shrouded in foliage. We stumble upon the next creature rather quickly, Juniper introduces it to us as a ‘Camel’ and says to be wary as they can be quite shy, and scared of strangers. The creature looked similar to a horse, yet featured a large bump on the top of his back, and seemed much thinner, bonier perhaps. * * After Juniper led us away from the Camel quite hurriedly, the animal having rejected Matthieu’s attempt to touch his head, we were brought to the center of the Oasis, where everyone lived. It was composed mainly of large tents with intricate designs, and rather large interiors. It was certainly beautiful to look at, it felt warm, like a home. They ranged from blue, green, purple, all sorts of colors and combinations really. * * Next, we were brought to another type of Animal we’d never seen before, referred to as a Rhino by our guide, Juniper. She claims we should stay far from them, as they can be quite aggressive in general. Supposedly the Rhinos have grown up alongside certain men within the tribe, and have formed a special bond with those men, which is why they are kept around the tribe. They are used to move heavy objects, and carry things from place to place easily. * * I got a bit too close to one for a moment in an attempt to get a good look for my notes, to which Juniper yelled at me to come back. The animal was large and grey, as the Elephant was but seemed more muscular, while the Elephant seemed much more fat. And instead of a worm-like nose, the Rhino featured a sharp nose with a large horn on it. Next we were led to something familiar, a turtle! Though this one was a bit bigger than the average turtle that may be found in Providence, referred to as a ‘Desert Turtle.’ I am unsure if that is the proper name for such, but it is what Juniper called it! * * It was at this point a small girl approached our group, named Zahra. She greeted Juniper and the rest of us with a smile and we returned such, she carried a small basket alongside herself, containing ingredients she claimed a small boy in Elysium had given to her for Juniper's bakery here in the Oasis. Juniper says she herself had just returned from Elysium, and that the people were quite nice. She invited me up to the tent where we all sat to converse. She informed me that everything seemed alright in Elysium, and that while the residence did seem upset by the war that they seemed to be more focused on other things. We spoke at length with the two, Juniper and the younger girl, about where we are from, about the war, and the animals among the Oasis. After this long talk, they tell me that before I am to venture off back to Oren, I must see the fishing area, where the young girl had caught her pet fish! She showed up her fish, which was dawned bright red, yellow and orange scales. She kept it in a lovely glass bowl of sand and water, having given it the name ‘Aswad’, meaning black because black is a mixture of all the colors! Quite clever. After we saw the fish, we happily followed them to the aforementioned area. It was quite lovely, the water, and there was a very pretty tree that loomed over the area! She explained to us how they set their nets out, and go to retrieve them every so often to check on the amount of fish they’ve caught. She also explained how they are sure to not overfish, as to not be harmful to their environment. After having met a few of the people who call the Oasis home, I learn that the people there are certainly welcoming to newcomers. They care so much about their environment, and the animals that live there with them, many of the animals being treated as if they too were a member of the tribe! I would love to be able to go back to The Oasis another day, as I am sure there is far more to learn about their culture than just their home. I would like to thank my brother-in-law, Matthieu Henri for accompanying me, and my grandfather John Pruvia for inspiring me to go on adventures of my own! Thank you for reading! Diaolos 204 Share Posted May 20, 2021 Azzam Bing Hakim Al-Hattan was up late the previous night studying at the main Majlis, he fell asleep within in it rather than going to his own tent few steps away. Before the sun risen, he was woken up by his Loyal khadeem Shakiir, The tanned skinned servant that has one of the big mustaches inside the tribe, Azzam claimed, greeted his employer with a pleasant smile, a bowl of Camel milk and a bowl of Dates. Alongside it was the regarded journal "Sabbah Al-Kheer Sayyidy. Its nearly time for the prayer, take this to give you some energy, and here" Shakiir said as he gave him the food and the Journal "Sabah Al-Kheer Shakiir. What is this?" Azzam asked "This is a journal of some Orenian man that has visited us sometime ago, its about what he saw when he wondered within the Oasis. And do not worry Sayyidy, I made sure to follow them as Juniper and Zahra showed them around. unnoticed" Shakiir informed as he went and sat down before Azzam then proceeds to bring closer the Qalasheen coffee pot to serve him after the Camel milk as usual "I see....very good Shakiir, Shukran." Azzam shot a pleasant smile to Shakiir before going through the journal with great interest eating some dates and following it with some camel milk.
