[ Order of the Corvus Venators ]

[ History of the Order ]

The former order of The Orrir’Ullral was founded on the 17th of the first seed 1750, under the first Ducem Corvus Vyasaldris Elyra, beginning as a simple coalition of hunters, warriors, smiths and physicians, who sworn to solely dedicate themselves to rid the world of any beastly creature that threatens the domains of all descendants, no matter their race or way of life, the guild proclaimed an Oath of Neutrality that seeks no side, nor allegiances. The Order from there grew at a slow pace, founding the first guildhouse in the north-wester pinelands of Arcas, the Farrador Stronghold. Contract after contract the Order gained recognition and notoriety amongst the descendant races, developing its own, unique way of slaying beasts and connecting with the hunt. The Farrador Stronghold expanded drastically, not only housing hunters, but bringing whole families and different ethnic groups, slowly starting to become similar to one of the many cities in Arcas. The Order faced many hardships and internal conflicts caused by this very way of expanding; unfortunately, by trying to grow so quickly, it violated its own code of not seeking sides, and that which does not live by its own code is destined to fail. From the rubbles of the old Order the remaining Corvites bound together once more to keep on the traditions of the former guild, with radical changes to its structure and ranks, on the 4th of the Amber Cold 29 of the second age The Order of the Corvus Venators was officially formed.

 [ The Hunt’s Call ]

The Order of the Corvus Venators sends out its request, warriors and hunters, blacksmiths and physicians alike shall receive the call of the hunt. All who are able and who can provide support with their craft are welcome to take up arms and fight alongside fellow Corvites as brothers and sisters. The Order shall never turn away descendants who wish to join amongst the ranks of the Venators to face the neverending fight against the creatures that break the balance of nature.

Unprepared Corvites won’t be sent out right away, as a set of trials ensures they are ready to face the creatures that roam the lands, all Novitius before they can be considered a full fledged member of the Order must complete the following trials.

  • A knowledge trial and medical trial, where the corvite shows their ability to properly research and prepare themselves before a hunt as well as care for their injuired members with first aid.

  • Swearing by the Lex Code Corvus, where the corvite recites the various Oaths and promises to remain loyal to the guild and its values.

Not all Corvites complete these trials on the first try, if so where to be the case, the Order offers training and lessons to reinforce what a Novitius lacks. Everyone may find a place within the ranks of the Order, be it by being a librarian, scribe or blacksmith.

[ The Order’s Mission ]

From the very first days of the order’s life, Corvites swore to protect the domain of all descendants, as such the Corvus Venators offer a multitude of services not only regarding beast slaying, the Order is an Academy that prepares and trains its watchmen with martial trainings and theoretical lessons that focus on better understanding the nature of monsters and otherworldly creatures.

The Order mainly focuses on hunting contracts of all kinds, from simple elimination quests to full on extermination of a threat in an area. Any corvite can take and complete contracts after consulting with a Higher ranking officer, and keep the amount of coin that was agreed with the Pactios, however at least 10% of the gain will go towards the Order’s upkeep.

The Order is a monster slaying academy, and as such will provide you with the training needed to face the many hardships of contracts, Corvites will be taught the nature of monsters and their behaviour and how to improve their martial skills to better face creatures on the field. All new knowledge is expected to be documented and stored within the Archives.

Corvites and veterans alike are expected to share their skills amongst each other; blacksmiths, medics, hunters and scholars will take apprentices, sharing their knowledge to further strengthen one another.

The guildhouse of the Order offers rooms and living quarters for all Corvites in need; a member will always find a roof to rest under in all of the Order’s properties.

[ Lex Code Corvus ]

To uphold respect and honour, the order holds its own code of conduct with 5  principles every Corvite is expected to follow.

I. Neutrality

I, while under the banner of the Venators, swear to never don the Order’s uniform while pursuing any political actions or involvement in conflicts that do not concern the primary interests of the guild. I will never take contracts that directly endanger the lives of the descendants or potentially harm them.

II. Brotherhood

I, while under the banner of the Venators, swear to respect my fellow watchmen, and promise that no blade will ever spill their blood by my hand, I will not thieve onto their possessions, they will not be neglected of their reward for my own greed and that all which is gained from a contract will be shared amongst Corvites equally.

I swear to uphold the utmost respect for the ranks of my superiors, and to never question their authority and orders, to never betray the Guild, and to stay true to my words, to never lie or plot against my fellow watchmen. I will instead report any concerns to the Ducem or Councilor should I deem it necessary

III. Respect of Nature

I, while under the banner of the Venators, swear to never harm a creature without a good reason, and to only hunt beasts for contracts or necessity. I will not tolerate abuse against animals done by fellow watchmen, and I will be loyal to my companions as they are to me.

IV. Knowledge

I, while under the banner of the Venators, swear to prepare myself against the upcoming threats, and that no watchmen nor myself will succumb to danger for my negligence. I swear to never bring a watchman not prepared to face the dangers of a contract and that has not yet fully completed their trials.

V. Presentation

I, while under the banner of the Venators, swear to always don my armor during contracts, and promise to never disrespect the Order’s banner, symbol or Coat of arms. I swear to keep my equipment in prime conditions and to never neglect maintenance of my weapon or uniform.

A Particular Elfess would frown deeply upon sighting the missive, sighing sadly to herself.
