To the esteemed Men and Women of the Imperial Diet,

It has been a distinct pleasure to serve with you these past few years within the Diet while we ever seek 'Providence' for our most holy and blessed Empire.

The circumstances of my service are unfortunate, having to replace Representative George O'Rourke after his sudden disappearance. Yet when I was asked by His Imperial Majesty To fill the vacant seat in the Commons,  it was impossible for me to deny this request. For a Citizen is never lazy, and ever dutiful. The citizen serves when their Emperor calls.

However, as I currently serve as a senior member of His Imperial Majesties Ministry of Civil Affairs, it would be inappropriate to seek elected office again after the close of this session of the diet.

It is truly a challenge to serve as a Statesmen, often earning the ire of common and noble citizen alike, but I am glad to have done it all with you. During my short time in the Diet, we have proposed and voted on bills protecting sites of cultural and historical significance, made fundamental changes to the government's financial accounting, held the Ministry to Justice to the high standards it demands, and given greater strength to the property rights of all private citizens - to name just a few laws circulating between both chambers.  It has not been an unproductive session in the least.

In the coming diet let us hope such brilliant individuals are again summoned by his Imperial Majesty to serve.

I would like to offer a special thanks to the following individuals, though all of the members I have served with imparted some wisdom and experienced, whether directly or indirectly.

Mr. President Napier; who has had to defend assaults against his personhood and organize the chamber towards productivity. President Napier is one of our more active, if not controversial, figures in Imperial Society - though his energy is unquestionable.

Representative Komnenos; For his dedication to the State, and the nation. He has a sharp mind for government policy and receives my full endorsement for Lord-Mayor of Providence where he will no doubt be successful.

Cardinal Gawain; His Eminence has a dedicated fervor for Imperial unity by faith and culture, though one can hope his views on Adunians might change. It is my hope the Cardinal might encourage more priests and devout laymen to serve in the House and His Imperial Majesties Ministries, as we share a belief in greater Church and State integration.

The Viscount Pruvia-Provins; The Viscount has taught me a great deal about foreign governance, and has served as a source of reason and communication with the House of Lords when I needed to be enlightened. All this despite a vile attempt on the mans life, and the deep responsibility of running a Noble estate.

I hope to make these last months in the diet fruitful before I return in full service to Her Excellency, Princess Josephine Augusta.

May GOD save the Emperor.

Servus,

Minuvas Melphestaus
