Another dreaded wedding” by Claire-Marie Elmpool  c. 1837

A N N O   D O M I N I  1817

Penned by the hand of TRH, Wilhelm Lucius, Baron of Carrington

The Baronial Household of Carrington is pleased to announce a private union between the Baron of Carrington, and Miss Alina Isidora Basrid as of the 17th of Malins Welcome, 1839.

The ceremony had few guests, attended only by those of close friendship or family of the two households d’Arkent and Basrid. We apologize for the lack of proper ceremony or announcement, it was a wish to keep the courtship secret until they were officially wed.

The ceremony took place within the Augustine Chapel, with the two reciting pleasant vows to one another, rings being bestowed upon the proper wearer. Afterwards the union was sealed with a kiss, announcing the new Baron and Baroness of Carrington.

BY PROVIDENCE,

His Lordship, Wilhelm Lucius

 Baron of Carrington

Her Ladyship, Alina Isidora

Baroness of Carrington

From within the Augustine a certain governess lets out an almost primal scream from her office. The woman holds within her hand the missive detailing her brother's recent marriage, her other a handkerchief that she brings to her nose, inhaling deeply as it rests over her nose and mouth. Promptly after the woman lays atop the table in her office, her brown, powdered, locks dangling off the end as the aims darts at the door that tightly clasps her within these prison-like walls.

The newly-anointed Baroness-Consort sat within Carrington's extensive grounds, a demure but distinctly victorious smile marking the curl of her lips as she posed for a portrait. She breathed in slowly, her mind straying momentarily to friends lost and promises lost with them, but the thoughts faded at once as the breathe left her lungs.

Some youth of that d'Arkent household sat locked within her quarters, brooding over the news whilst reading over that missive. The young girl groaned, nearly a yell!

A batch of orange tulips, likely not found much elsewhere on Almaris, arrives at the Carrington home several months after the union had been made public.
