Renata, The Eternal Gatekeeper

Renata took the intermission between his training within the Adrian barracks to sit down and take arms upon his paper and quill, instead of his sword and shield.

"Son, once your training has finished, you will venture out into the wild and make a name of yourself. If we do not know of you in a different title, do not bother coming back."

"Yes, father."  Renata, at the age of ten says. He heard the words, but he never understood it.

At the age of eighteen, he was cast away from his house with nothing but the clothes on his back, and was expected to make a name for himself, worthy of the Bluecrest household.

"But Papa, I'm not ready! How do I get people to know of me, what if I face an enemy I cant beat!?"  Renata exclaims, in fear of never seeing his house again.

But his father did not have words for him, for he was disgusted with the questions his own son asked him.

On his journey of sadness and hopelessness, upon arriving at Cloud Temple, an energetic man going by the name of Heinrik Sarkozic wandered upon Renata.

The man had seen that the boy wasn't from around here. Renata had seemed isolated with nowhere to go. It was then, when Renata was offered a place to stay, and a job to work.

The depressed Renata who cursed his own family name, worked as a Greycloak guard to better his sword, for he sought to reclaim his place in his household while achieving glory. It was his dream, his purpose.

Years later, a new Renata was born. After the latest battle of Heinrik's Rebellion, Greycloaks, civilians and even the Duke himself had declared Renata to be The Eternal Gatesman. He had forgotten his purpose over the many years that were fogged by endless training, raiding and war. But as he was called this, something snapped within Renata. He had achieved his goal. He had earned a title, worthy of bringing back to the Bluecrest household.

Filled with adrenaline from the great accomplishment he achieved, he was ready to pack his belongings onto a cart, until he looked back at the city of Adria. It's beauty, unrivalled and full of life. It's people who cared more for the Bluecrest than any other Bluecrest did for him.

"Is it truly worth, abandoning Adria... for a family that doesn't even love me...?"  Renata pondered.

The man took a long, deep thought, before collapsing in tears. He hated himself for considering both options, as they both felt unethical and immoral to think of.

Ultimately, he decided that he would rather stay with his Greycloak friends, and abandon his family as a whole. He had decided that Adria needed a defender, and he would be it's greatest bastion.

He hated his name, but one day perhaps he could make something of it.

Present Day, the boy turned man would write his story, for any and all to see within Adria. Upon the same paper, he would also announce that he would be starting a new household: The von Bluecrests. He had decided to keep his old name, and rename it to the convention of some of Adria's people, as considers himself Adrian. The symbol of his household would be that of an Eagle, in a blue sky with the sun behind it's head flying in the north east direction.

The days of Renata Bluecrest is over. Renata von Bluecrest, The Eternal Gatekeeper, Greycloak Shieldbearer and defender of Adria is born.

In a study within St. Emalyne Castle, a young Raev read through piles of books, maps and scrolls. Occasionally he would scribble some new notes to his own journal, and reference what he had already jotted down. Glancing over his notes, Markus Marie Sarkozic taps his pen on a name of interest as he contemplates a plan. "That Greycloak sure did well on the first hunt."
