PREFACE

It is no lie that in recent weeks the Stassion Company has fallen into a state of sloth. Rightly, with the new chapter of our history, the County of Stassion must maintain a standing guard force at all costs for reasons obvious to any one man. The following reforms are hereby put into immediate effect to ensure levels of morale and efficiency are upheld, the long-term goals of these reforms is to grow the Company to new heights not seen ever since its founding. Our doctrine delineates the roles and core duties of the Company. It aims to establish fundamental principles for employing His Royal Highness’ bannerman and emphasizes the importance of the professional soldier and the characteristics of the future force to keep the Count’s peace, enforce his will, and maintain his commitment to his people. 

 

ARTICLE ONE - Mission & Duties of the Stassion Company

 

The Mission of the Stassion Company is to act as the standing militant force in service to Prince Richard and the House of Novellen. Ensuring the safety and security of their liege, the Comital Family, and his esteemed guests. Furthermore the Stassion Company is tasked with ensuring the safety and security of all denizens within the lands of Stassion. To enforce the laws and values of Stassion onto those that reside under our banner. Patrolling regularly in different time intervals within our lands and borders to ensure the safety of our land and people. Lastly training regularly to enhance in different weaponry.

 

ARTICLE TWO - The Hierarchy of the Stassion Company

 

The Stassion Company follows a simple yet strict ranking hierarchy, as the company is a small group, it cannot house a large garrison with many ranks. As such Richard Leonus Novellen has sought to follow a three uniform policy to show unity and fraternity of those serving under his banner, so that all under it know who one another are, their status, and so forth. 

 

COMMANDER 

At the top of the chain of command is the Commander. He is the highest ranking officer of the Company and a member of the Comital Council, he acts as the marshal of the Prince’s forces in his absence whilst being the chief military advisor. 

 

CAPTAIN

Veteran officers who have served long tenures in the ranks of the Company and have such earned the rank of Captain. These men have the ear of the Commander and to act as his executive officers relaying his orders to their lieutenants. 

 

LIEUTENANT

Sergeants who have gone above and beyond whilst serving are rewarded for their valorous deeds with the promotion to Lieutenant, these individuals make up the junior officers of the Company and are given charge of small groups of soldiers in the enlisted corps. This assignment is to test their leadership skills both on and off the field of battle. 

 

SERGEANT

Grizzled combat veterans of the Stassion Company who have served faithfully to their liege-lords have been granted and or promoted to the rank of Sergeant. These soldiers are the mentors and instructors to their subordinate ranks, they are the acting officers of the Company. Most often these men are war veterans or knights. 

 

MAN-AT-ARMS

More experienced members of the Company and have completed their time as recruits are known as Men-at-Arms, they make up the bulk of the rank-and-file of the Company. They are most often seen on patrol or out guarding the interests of House Novellen alongside recruits assigned to them by Sergeants. 

 

FOOTMAN

The basic rank and file of the Stassion Company, they make up the bulk and core of those in service to the County. These individuals are freshly oathed and eager to be tested in combat, they lack experience but make up for it through rigorous and constant training. Footmen once they have taken their oath have earned the Shield of the Argent Sun which is pinned upon their cuirass. 

 

RECRUIT

Fresh enlistees to the Stassion Company are known simply as recruits, while they wear Novellen Colors it is taught unto them they have not earned them until proven whether it be through martial prowess, valor, or recognition by their liege-lords.

 

ARTICLE THREE - The Oath and Merits of the Stassion Company

 

Before one can begin their journey in service to the County of Stassion, new enlistees must take this oath and pledge their service and being to the Count, Stassion, and the people under her banner. When the recruit takes the oath to Stassion, he/she guarantees his/her lives to uphold and defend the values of the state. 

 

THE BANNERMAN’S OATH

 

I, (name), do solemnly swear until my dying breath my fealty upon the Lord of Stassion and his household, and with it entails my duty to protect those under the Lord, and to defend the lands and ensure the safety of all people, let it be the Lord or any denizen residing under the lands of Stassion.

MERITS & AWARDS OF THE COMPANY

 

The Shield of the Argent Sun

This medal is awarded to soldiers within the company who have shown great prowess, and upon taking the Oath of the Bannerman. Those who are awarded the Shield of the Argent Sun, have proven themselves to be of great leadership capabilities and are officially sworn into the Company.

 

The Sword of Sir Edmund the Swift

This medal is awarded to those company members who through months of arduous training in the blade finally have an opportunity to display the fruits of said training, proving their hand at the blade through tournaments and either in battles or duels against foes in greater number or skill then themselves. These soldiers prove to be formidable soldiers in the midst of combat and customarily are the ones to be placed in the vanguard or in the rearguard position during or following a retreat.

 

The Cross of the Martyr

This Cross is awarded posthumously to the fallen company soldiers who performed the greatest sacrifice and forsook their lives in the pursuit of their duty, dying heroically for the sake of their fellow soldiers who shall stride to follow in their example. Only on the rarest and most extreme occasion shall this medal be awarded to those soldiers that perform a sacrifice nearing the feat of those who passed. The medal is to accompany the fallen member of the company at their place of burial, though not all fallen company soldiers shall receive this honor.

 

ARTICLE FOUR - Enlistment to the Company

 

The Stassion Company has few requirements to join up in our ranks, those being willingness to join, at least fourteen years of age, follower of the one true faith of humanity or willing to convert, and residing or planning to reside in the County of Stassion.
