While working on a rewrite with @S1nnerVsSa1nts on the military of Nor-Velyth (Formerly Nor’asath), I spent time checking out old dark elf military posts and found a post on the Div’cruan, an old military from around 2018 (and I feel like once before that, but I could not find it again). Within it was a war chant, written by the player Watyll. In his honor, I’ve made a remixed form for the Nor-Velyth Military.

Some of the fine details of this story may be inaccurate as it's been around 6 months since I first found this chant, however, I think it is interesting enough to spend time writing. I fancy myself to be a bit of an internet historian, and ever since I joined LOTC 2 years ago, I have always enjoyed the stories told to me by older players about the things that have happened on this server. As I’ve continued to play, this has evolved to me spending a great deal of time in the forum archives. When we had a change in leadership for the Nor-Velyth military, they were looking to breathe new life into it, and I worked to help them make it more interesting. For that, I borrowed some of the paper trail I had begun to pick up on the history of the dark elves (I hope to make a post chronicling most of the dark elven history, in time) . Initially, the Div’cruan was a group I had dismissed, as despite being an old dark elf player, it did not ring any bells to the military leader, @S1nnerVsSa1nts. However, in my downtime, I gave the post a quick skim. There, I found the spoiler with the war chant written by Watyll, in ancient elven. Later on, I ended up finding a full post he made with both the english and elven versions, but I was unable to find it again to link in this post (he has over 600 pages of forum activity). After seeing the name, a memory of a topic discussed in a vc I was in came to mind and I ran to CT to see the names of players who have passed, and among them, was his name. I had remembered correctly. One of the named ancestors within Nor-Velyth’s greater pantheon was Wytall, the War Sage; and the story I had been told in vc was that the ancestor was fashioned to honor the player lost. At the time, Vel’luah was a new language made as a project to act as a dark elf language, and at the time was in its infancy. Now, the language is a nearly complete language due to the hard work of @Creete and my ADHD has finally brought me back around to this project. Its only a small gesture, but I made this poem as my small way of honoring a passed player. May your memory never die.
