Forum Issue: Can’t Add Images to Posts

I am having a hard time trying to figure out a way to add my own images to forum posts. It doesn’t seem to matter what I do the forums do not accept the file. I am met with “This file is too big” but I am seeing other members doing what I wish to.

 

- The “choose files” button followed by “photo library” button leads me to the “1 file would exceed total allowed size”

- Copying the image from google docs and pasting into the text box yields zero results. It simply doesn’t paste.

- Copying the image link from google drives or imgur and using the “other media” & “insert image from URL” results in the URL box flashing red.

 

What am I doing wrong & what can I do to fix it? I used to post tons and tons of photos on the forums but have had this issue for years now. I gave up in the past but now I am seeking help! HELP!

 

P.S. I am trying this from my ipad and iphone. Is it safari?

most people upload their image into discord and paste the discord link, works fine for me. if that doesnt work u might have to reach out to forum tech

This technique should work for google docs too? But you are right. That solution works for me. Discord ravages the picture quality but I will keep this as a backup solution!

 

For clarification on this solution: pasting the discord link automatically embeds the image into the post. The same isn’t occuring from other sources.

I usually write my posts in Google docs, copy paste them (this includes the pics) and it auto pastes with the rest. Hope that helps!

Dont do the discord technique. Discord only keeps the image links for a certain period of time, and it's not that long nowadays. If you go back and view any lore piece that @squakhawkhas posted you'll notice half the image links don't work anymore. It's because they were discord image links. Honestly just do an imgur upload or something, then paste the link.

Oof so a temporary fix with the discord approach. 
 

Imgur is what I was having issues with. The link wasn’t auto-embedding into the post and the button to insert an image via URL wasn’t working either.

Do not do this anymore. Discord changed how images work to make the link not work anymore after roughly 24 hours. Which means 24 hours after you post, that image is bye bye.

LOTC Forums only give you 500kb of storage on site, which is woefully small, I just never use this.

Worked for me, how are you copying the images? Are you using ctrl+c and then ctrl+v? Are you highlighting the image with your mouse first before copy and pasting?

 

I just read that you use an ipad or iphone, this could be with how you highlight stuff in google docs to copy on apple devices, it could be different than on a PC.

It's probably some wack safari shit, is your situation similar to this? 

 

I'd suggest trying to experiment with a different browser on your ipad or iphone, maybe try the Opera browser for IOS or google, see if it's different.

It's probably some wack safari shit, is your situation similar to this?

this is helpful info. I will try some stuff tonight as my bandaid via discord ended up not working for very long.

yeah I did it this way and today found out exactly what you meant. The images are expiring already.

I would post a screenshot but… I can’t.

When making a post or comment there is the paperclip symbol on the left side below what I am texting. Right of that is the “choose files” button. Right from that is a white button “Other Media” with a drop down arrow. 2 options pop up “Insert existing attachment” or “Insert Image from URL”

 

Also I tried firefox and it didn’t work.

 

The strange part is I used to be to able to fully format posts in my google docs and post to the forums from my iphone. All of my posts were done this way for years. It is only the last couple that something changed. I am having this issue on 2 separate (albeit ios) devices.

Do you think you could try gyazo instead of imgur? That might work.

When I click the paperclip button I get this, I think it might be something with apple or with mobile phones in general. 

 

I think the issue might be IOS not liking you, try giving gyazo a shot if it works on IOS, you have to drag and drop the images into it, atleast on desktop you do.
