The following is a PUBLIC MISSIVE

----------------------------------

Hello. For those who are unaware, my name is Sydney Fiyem.

A few years ago now, my dear sister, Naya Al-Jabir Aldor, born Naya Barakat, and also known as Adya, passed away. She has gone this long without a funeral, and that is a disservice to her memory.

So I call to anyone who knew her in her life, under either of her names, not to simply mourn what was lost, but to celebrate all that she was.

The funeral will take place at the lilypond outside of Balian, along the road, with the permission of Constable Gwenyth Vilac.

Spoiler

OOC:

July 11th, 6pm EST

The Following are kindly asked to not attend the service:

Sarryn, and any associates

O'zen, and any associates

Kiyoshi, under any name

Juniper Rose

The Pontiff Caius, and any who come in his place

Naith Loa'chil

*This list is subject to being updated at any time before the event.

----------------------------------

The following is not public information.

A letter enclosed to Naith Loa'chil. @Halfirate

Spoiler

Naith,

I hope you can understand why I have asked you don't attend the service. It extends to Athri as well. But you are welcome to come pay your respects after the service is over. I know you cared about her, I just want to avoid tension here.

-Syd

A letter enclosed to Ar-Malna. @KillerMaid

Spoiler

I don't forgive you, and I can't consider you my sister. Despite that, I can't demand you stay away from this either. She was your sister, before you made your mistakes. If you show up, do not interact with Godwin. If I see you initiating conversation with him and not the other way around, I will ask you to leave.

Malna, or Annika to others, read through the missive, then the letter. Every year, without fail, since she had died, she visited Mount Kaelin and sat beside her memorial once she knew it was there. She knew she made mistakes and was horrid for what she did, but she was thankful to Sydney for at least letting her be there.

[!] A letter would be sent to Sydney

Dear Sydney,

I understand, I will be there. I will not speak with Godwin, or anyone for that matter if you wish it. I am sorry.

Signed,

Ar-Malna

"Who?" The Pontiff said towards Frantzisko as the Cardinal brought him a letter, surveying the paper. "Oh, Naya, the Warlock. Why did she think I would attend the funeral of a warlock?" the Pontiff bellowed, letting out the loudest of laughs for the Cardinal. "Nuh-uh. No funerals for Warlocks." The Pontiff declared. "Shut it down!"

Sydney, who is very much a man, is blissfully unaware of this reaction.

Staring up at the missive before him, Fynn Bassam Al-Jabir Aldor finds a frown on his face, sickly pale hands snatching at it. An odd sort of anger floods the face of the 9 year old boy, something he can't express. Tearful eyes glare at the paper, hands slowly crumpling it. He knows what death means, now, what it is ever since he saw Caius kill.

But only bad people were supposed to die, and he didn't believe his mother could have been bad. Years of denial, of being told "she's not gone, she's coming back soon." Swirls in him, resulting in loud shouting about his uncle being a liar. Sydney would recieve the brunt of that claim in time.

A letter was scrawled, deep in the dusty confines of a long-forgotten study. The draugar regarded the paper with that life absent in her eyes, as it always was, now. A quill eventually found its way into the creaking musculature of her fingers. A paper, sent only to the missives author.

"Fiyem,

Were it that I could standby your wishes. Regret, and grief, both, have consumed me. To think that I would not be there is an insult to her memory.

Permit me this small peace,

O'zen'jkastum"

Before long, there would be a reply to this letter:

If you must come, show up after the service. Where it is being held is where her ashes will be spread.

What I need you to understand is that if it were not for you, she would still be alive. Her name would not be tainted. Our lives would be normal. Her son would have a mother. And it is entirely your fault that that was all ruined. If you must come to pay your respects, I can't stop you. But please, show up once everyone has left. I don't want to see you. You've done more than enough.

I will never forgive you.

Alaric stares at the missive, mind entirely blank; he feels a pit in his stomach. For as long as he could, he pushed this towards the back of his mind, yet now it simmers within the front. He throws the paper away, for all that he knows, he will not be attending.

He wants to believe she's still alive, he wants to believe the ritual was a success.

New Missives will appear along with this one, throughout the cities, publicly. AKA everyone can see this:

It has come to my attention that demons have planned to attend the funeral.

I do not wish to endanger anyone. For this reason, the funeral as originally planned is cancelled.

-Sydney Fiyem
