Material Lore Rewrite.

A favored material of the ancient Maehr’uhier of Magara’lin. Practices of its use barely begin to resurface. 

 

Crafting Component

Hemolymph Glue: The concept is foreign to many beyond the depths. Everything must be utilized down here. Hemolymph is a fluid found inside insects, when mixed and boiled with flour and water, the results is a strong resin the Maehr’uhier used to bind together their chitin weapons, homes, chairs and beyond. Where most mortal races found use in nails in straps. Those ancients of Magara’lin found Hemolymph Glue.

Harvesting Chitin

Chitin is the terminology used to describe the outer layer of an insect's exoskeleton. Nothing in life is free, to gain Chitin you must hunt it and pry it from the dead husks of bugs. Chitin harvested is categorized into Four types. 

 

Soft Chitin:

Bears the quality of leather before soaked in distilled ethanol for an extended time and cured in the sun or bioluminescence. Smaller insects bear this, such as Dwarven Riding Beetles, Tarraskan Beetles. Once refined, it bears the quality of bronze. Making it the poormans choice underground.

When used in armor or as armor itself, Soft Chitin counts as light armor, unless paired with additional armor, making it medium armor. Weapons and armor made of Soft Chitin bear the quality of bronze. 

 

Soft Chitin can not be used beneath a set of Heavy Armor. The material is unwieldy when compared to metallic plates. 

 

Soft Chitin bears the quality of leather when cured.

 

Soft Chitin requires one emote to burn through with heat.

 


Hard Chitin:

Hard Chitin bears the quality of steel, to be used in item fabrication it requires the chitin be soaked in distilled ethanol for an extended time. During its curing process it may be exposed to heat to help warp it to their liking and carve pieces away. Taken from more dangerous beasts, such as Prismatic Spiders, and the Lurker.

Armor composed of Hard Chitin is considered Heavy Armor. Weapons of Hard Chitin may be set ablazed twice before they are melted.

 

Hard Chitin requires two emotes to burn through with heat. 

 

 

Infused Soft Chitin:

Soft Chitin, before it is cured may be infused with other minerals. Though its creators decided to use bones or one genus worth of blood for their first flux, metallic powder may be used  as well. This is added during the soaking of the chitin, Infused Soft Chitin is considered a Medium Armor when used for equipment, bearing the qualities and sturdiness of iron. Making it a prized possession among those that live beneath the surface.

A trademark gift held close by the Noble Houses of any lords that brave just the edge of the Underdark. Enough blood to drain a mortal of two genus, soaked within the distilled ethanol. Infused Hard Chitin is considered Heavy Armor when used for equipment, bearing the qualities and sturdiness of Daemonsteel. Making it a prized possession among Noble Houses of the depths.

Chitin weapons bear strange designs and looks. Often serving several uses with a deceptive appearance. Such a hammer made of overlapping plates of chitin. Honed to a sharp edge along the spine of each plate and warped into a hook.  

 

Chitin Weapons and Armor follow all redlines of  The Techlock - Armorments. 

 

 

Strider Chitin

Though able to withstand cannons, as the striders age those that beloved these creatures find that it will die before them. Often when caravans of striders find suitable grounds, their riders use the bodies of the striders to create what they can. As its dead shell provides a last gift, bearing the qualities of stone. 


Can not be used to make armor or weapons. Any item made of Strider Chitin can not be used in CRP.  It is a lore building material. Have fun.
