As star-filled nights pass, a small figure runs along the Petran lands, bobbing in and out of fields, gardens, and opting for off-road travel. With one foot after the other, a small tink here and there, and the swishing of chainmail, the young rat-catcher works diligently day and night, only stopping her task to eat and sleep - though sparingly. The daylight gives her ample time to catch pests from Aaunic fields and homes, while the night gives perfect cover and just enough light for her to be able to understand her surroundings as the animals were left to spread.

 

From unused barrels and potato sacks pests pour out – rats, mice, hedgehogs, the catcher does not care about the type of rodent. From those loose lids and released drawstrings do the creatures begin to scurry for solace. Fresh meals await them, from the golden fields to flowers that are painted with such vibrancy. All stalks, buds, and pods of seed are quickly taken by the hungering pests with none being left spared. Crops are razed from the munching, with wild birds seeing more substance for them to devour from the leftovers. The creatures are not just condensed to the Capital of Valfleur, but the Petran vassals as well. Keeps, manors, and all road-side locations. Few buildings are spared from the plague of rats– Any churches lack pests, as well as the Legionnaires keep, for whatever reason.

 

Along with the influx of rats, the sightings of local cats and kittens dwindle. For every cat left to roam freely had been taken by the rat-catcher. Some may believe the cats to have been killed or left to die elsewhere, but, truly, the felines find new lives outside of the Petran lands. Thriving in various homes, the field-cats have become fat house cats to those who often use the rat-catchers services.

Rats make me crazy. . But 350 minas dude, dang!

 

A young girl would lurk about, using any chance had to ****** up rats - though not all of them by any means. The animals are thus killed, and unceremoniously stored for her darling snakes next meal. Petra was a veritable buffet for her crimson-scaled friend!

Bon'Ox had to fight off the rats as he was delivering his tongue to Enswerp Bailifd's office.. he did observe s gew hedgehogs though. They're cool.
