So here's a repost because the previous one broke ;;

I'm not expecting this to get accepted, but I think it would be really cool and add a lot of character development to the server if it did! Please consider it :D

In the quiet of the village night, the man was jolted from his sleep by chaos outside. He rushed out of his quarters to find his wife being dragged out of the house by a man clothed in black. She cried out for him, her voice filled with terror.

The man drew a dagger, but it was too late. He watched in horror as the murderer split his wife's throat open.

Blood gushed from her neck, a fountain of death and despair for the man. In panic and rage, he threw the dagger at the murderer, who simply caught the dagger in midair.

He had loved his wife more than anything else in the world.

The murderer turned to leave, paying no attention whatsoever to the despairing man on the floor. A primordial rage boiled inside him, a lust for revenge, but he was powerless; completely powerless against the injustice of the universe. He wanted more than anything for his wife's murderer to die, to feel pain, to be tortured, even more than he wanted his wife back.

Then, a voice spoke:

"Feel Rage."

And the man did. He allowed the rage to manifest within himself, to take over his heart.

With inhuman speed, he lunged on the man, slowly strangling him to death.

"Feel Fury."

For countless ages, the Empathic Monarchs have woven their influence through the intricate tapestry of the Descendants' minds. Each of the Four Monarchs, embodying their unique Domain, bestowed their gifts upon every Descendant, enabling them to experience and understand emotions in profound ways. Their powers granted the Descendants the ability to feel deeply, to connect with the vast spectrum of emotions.

However, this benevolent gifting came with its own set of complications. The Monarchs, each proud and resolute in their own Domain, could not agree on the supremacy of their gifts. Their once harmonious purpose became a battleground of conflicting ideals and rivalries. They debated fiercely, each asserting that their particular Domain—be it Elation, Melancholy, Dread, or Fury—was the most essential and influential. This discord among the Monarchs led to a perpetual struggle for dominance within the minds of the Descendants.

As each Monarch sought to establish their authority, the minds of the Descendants became arenas for these celestial conflicts. The Monarchs' influence clashed and intertwined, creating a dynamic and often tumultuous emotional landscape within each individual. They fought not just for control, but for the soul and essence of the Descendants themselves, each seeking to imprint their own emotional signature most deeply.

In this constant struggle, the Descendants were caught in a whirlwind of emotions, each Monarch vying for their attention and devotion. The gift of Empathic Resonance, a rare and potent gift, became the ultimate prize in this cosmic game. To achieve it, a Descendant had to allow one Monarch’s influence to dominate their mind to such an extent that the other Monarchs’ powers were suppressed or banished. This was no simple feat, for the balance of emotions was delicate, and the struggle to align with a single Monarch’s Domain required not only extraordinary focus and strength but an incredibly stimulating event.

Those who succeeded in this arduous challenge were granted the gift of Empathic Resonance—a rare and extraordinary power that enabled them to channel and harness the purest essence of the Monarch’s Domain. This Resonance was not merely a tool but a profound transformation, allowing the individual to manifest and control the deepest aspects of their chosen emotion. It granted them not only enhanced emotional perception but also the ability to exert that emotion's influence upon the world around them, reshaping their reality according to the power of the Monarch they had embraced.

The gift of Empathic Resonance came with its own responsibilities and challenges. The Descendant, now a conduit for their chosen Monarch’s Domain, was entrusted with a power that could alter the very fabric of emotional experience. They became a living embodiment of their Monarch’s influence, capable of profound acts of emotional impact, yet also vulnerable to the fluctuations and trials of their chosen emotion.

Thus, the struggle between the Empathic Monarchs continues, with each Descendant's journey becoming a new chapter in the ongoing saga of emotional dominance and celestial contention. The legacy of the Monarchs and the quest for Empathic Resonance persist, shaping the lives of those who seek to master the profound and transformative powers of their own emotions.

Redlines:

- No character can have Empathic Resonance with more than one Monarch, ever.

- Empathic Resonance isn't easy. You can't just make an MA for Empathic Resonance because your character got a gift they really wanted or failed a task they really wanted to succeed in. It has to be an emotion so strong it's life-changing.

- A detailed RP transcription of the event that caused the character to gain Empathic Resonance is required to make an MA.

- Your character cannot force this emotion or seek an event that may induce such a strong emotion; it must happen naturally.

Takes up 1 magic slot.

- You cannot teach Empathic Resonance.

Tiers

Tier 1 - A character has just had the event that has caused the emotion to take dominance within their mind, but the other Monarchs are still vying for power. During this stage, the Empathic Resonator may face intense emotional conflict, with their chosen emotion fighting for power over the other ones. The Empathic Resonator does not yet have access to any of the gifts of their Monarch. Lasts for 1 OOC week.

Tier 2 - The monarch of choice has finally won the conflict in the character's mind, making that respective emotion and its sub-emotions the ONLY emotions the character is able to feel. However, the character has limited control over these emotions and may find themselves doing impulsive things led my their heart more than their mind. They have access to a few of their Monarch's gifts at this stage. Lasts for 2 OOC weeks.

Tier 3 - The Empathic Resonator is now experienced in the ways of their Monarch, having access to an expansive list of gifts and being able to control with relative ease how they feel. They still internally struggle with only being able to feel one emotion, however, and the emotion comes out quite strong most of the time. Lasts for 5 OOC weeks.

Tier 4 - Now nearly a master at controlling their emotions, the Empathic Resonator can now hide their emotions if necessary, but still cannot fake other emotions. Their gifts are powerful and are used to enact the will of their respective Monarch upon the world. Lasts for 4 OOC weeks.

Tier 5 - Now a Master of their craft after twelve long years of walking the path of their Monarch, the Empathic Resonator appears on the outside like any other normal Descendant, but inside harbors the strongest of emotions. At needed times, they can unleash the full force of their chosen Empathic Gift, performing feats normal Descendants would wholly be incapable of.

Purpose (OOC):

I joined LOTC seeking rich character development and deeply emotional roleplays, and while I do run into these every now and again, they don’t happen as frequently as I think would be fun. Also, the reliance on teachers for most types of magic kind of feels like a limitation.

This new magic fixes both of these problems by offering a more flexible approach to magic! It allows for greater personal agency in magical development, eliminating the need for a mentor and thus enabling a more seamless integration of magic into character arcs. It not enhances the potential for engaging and dynamic roleplay and also maintains a balanced and enjoyable experience. I really hope you consider :D

To add a more serious criticism...

I can commend the desire to want to add something to the server; however, it's only worth it if it's authentic and it comes from you. A lore piece that is written poorly, but has unique, relevant concepts and ideas is worth 10000x more than something that's been largely generated from AI. I highly recommend you take some time to RP on the server, improve your writing skills, and give lore writing a shot when you feel confident in writing your own work.

I admit that last OOC part is ai generated, but everything else is hours and hours of work ;; I'm sorry if I write like an ai

Edit: I changed that last part to my own wording. Sorry! I was three hours of hard work and I was getting tired.

Why would you use AI to write lore, I do not understand? Can you explain your reasoning.

Dear [Name],

I trust this message finds you in good spirits. I wanted to extend my recognition for the considerable effort you have invested in your recent lore submission. Crafting lore, particularly for something as intricate and multifaceted as magic, is a formidable undertaking. It’s abundantly clear that you’ve imbued your work with a great deal of creativity and intellectual rigor, which is a commendable endeavor in its own right. Your initiative to contribute substantively to the server is laudable and reflects a genuine passion for the world we collectively inhabit.

However, I feel compelled to offer some constructive critique, which I hope you’ll perceive as an effort to aid in your development as a writer and as a burgeoning member of our community. While your lore exhibits some intriguing concepts, it appears to fall somewhat short of fully integrating into the established canon of the server. The Lord of the Craft universe is characterized by its rich, intricate, and deeply layered history, and crafting lore that harmonizes with this existing framework necessitates a profound understanding of the narrative’s complexities and subtleties.

Given that you’ve only recently become a denizen of our world—having joined merely a couple of months ago—it might be prudent to allocate more time to fully immerse yourself in the server’s ongoing sagas, character dynamics, and pre-existing lore. Such immersion will furnish you with a more robust foundation and an enhanced comprehension of how your original ideas might be woven into the broader narrative tapestry. It is not uncommon for newer players to feel a fervent desire to make an immediate impact, but often, a period of observation and participation can culminate in far more refined and cohesive contributions.

Moreover, I observed that the formatting of your submission could benefit from further refinement. The way your ideas are presented is of paramount importance, particularly in the context of lore submissions. Clear, well-structured formatting not only enhances the readability of your work but also reflects a meticulous attention to detail—a quality indispensable in the creation of lore that will be scrutinized and engaged with by others. Enhancing the visual clarity of your submission will allow your concepts to be communicated more effectively and with greater impact.

I wish to underscore that this feedback is offered with the intention of encouragement, not discouragement. Every writer embarks on their journey from a point of origin, and the mere fact that you have already taken the bold step of contributing to the lore is indicative of your potential. With time, experience, and continued effort, I have every confidence that you will develop the capacity to create lore that not only aligns with but also enriches the world we all cherish. Please feel free to reach out should you desire further discussion, feedback, or even just a dialogue on the intricacies of lore.

Persevere in your endeavors, and I eagerly anticipate witnessing your continued growth and the evolution of your ideas.

Warm regards,
[Your Name]

Thank you! While this does sound mildly AI generated, I thank you for the feedback anyway! I think I’m going to give up on this thread for the time being.
