Dear diary,

 

My muscles burn, and my lungs ache. I could swear the grip of my mother's heirloom is burned into my hands, branded for all eternity.

 

I trained and sparred, accepted offered advice from swordsman teachers. In my mind's eye, my targets, my sparring companions were Darkspawn. Demons.

 

It only egged me on, to try harder, move faster. More, more, more.

 

My Abuela once said we cannot rest until those who harmed us are dead. My Hermanas and I stared at the slain bodies at the time, those who saw to the assassination of my Madre - and those words struck home.

 

My Padres murderer has not yet been found. The investigations are endless, I certainly gave enough incentive to assure there will be no pause and none shall falter.

 

Even with the Edict, it can only do so much. Darkspawn came and they raided, taking one of our citizens. Our soldiers set out, successfully rescuing her alongside called upon allies, but not before she was nearly dead.

 

My prayers to DIOS only grow with fervor. May Hyspia prosper. May my family be safe. May my people be happy.

Let me become an adult.

 

Today, though, was something lighter. A light in the darkness. A feast was held to welcome Arturas, where many enjoyed food and drinks amidst laughter and conversation - my secret was still safe and bellies were full.

 

I can only hope my days, our days, continue like today.

 

May DIOS bless us all and see us into a prosperous time.
