Darkened Memories

Beneath the once splendor of the memory tree sat a mural of two saints. Paying homage to their great deeds in life and immortalizing them in stone as all who pilgrimage may yet see and know of their deeds. So you set out on this pilgrimage to pay respect and see the grandeur of this site. Yet as you approached something seemed off. First the smell, it would smell worse then you thought. And a buzzing sound can be heard. As you approach you'd wretch a little the smell worsening. The smell of decay overpowering your nostrils. Yet you powered on, thinking it was some dead animal near by the monument. Yet as you step towards the cleaning waters, you'd instantly see the bowl had a red murkiness to it.  Perhaps this once you forgo cleansing your hands, yet the true horror was revealed. The center stone was adorned in the center with a decaying goat head. Its tongue stuck out, its eyes beaming towards any would be pilgrims as if welcoming to a new shrine, HIS shrine. 

Yet the worse was not over, as the goat head served as the center piece to the canvas, you'd notice a strange circle of blood around the rock. The smell burning into anyone's nostrils. The horrific work was not yet finished. The two murals of the saints now spattered on dry blood. Flies buzzing between the three spots. Seems they had made a new home in this once holy ground. Tainting it further for a new dark master. If so continued to stay a dark presence could be felt watching, gleaming at the terror and horror that had been produced in HIS name. The wicked who had desecrated this holy spot long gone, but their impact still lingering, still watching...
