OLD

Cursed Fire

The malices of cursed fire, much like the general malices, are not inherently acknowledged RPly. Thus, cursed fire is to be taught by the teacher on an OOC basis, and the student may instead roleplay discovery of their newfound malflame imbuement with whatever flavor or justification they desire.

By spending [1] extra emote of charging, a Naztherak may harness their Malice in order to inflict it within their malflame, burning deep within the soul of whoever it touches. The Malice being used is limited to the Naztherak’s primary and secondary malice, and must be specified which is being used within the casting emote. Only one malice may be imbued at any given moment. These corrupt forces will linger for [1] OOC day before fading, but may be purged by a Holy Mage beforehand.

All effects, upon contact, take [2] emotes to reach full effect. Although the core premise of the effects of cursed fire should be adhered to, creativity and flavorful interpretation are welcome.

Once a Naztherak is capable of Cursing, the nature of Malice is naturally present in their malflame, and all malflame summoned by the Naztherak is inherently imbued with the Malice associated with the Naztherak's Lord.

By spending [1] extra emote of charging, a Naztherak may harness their Malice in order to adjust the curse within their malflame, burning deep within the soul of whoever it touches. This would change the Cursed nature to the Naztherak’s secondary malice, and must be specified which is being used within the casting emote. Only one malice may be imbued at any given moment. These corrupt forces will linger for [1] OOC day before fading, but may be purged by a Holy Mage beforehand.

HOW CHANGED

Cursing has long been in a strange spot when it comes to the average Naz, and is often underutilized or forgone entirely due to how little it brings to the table for an entire slot. This change implements cursed fire being the default state, imbued with the Naztherak's Lord's individual Malice, and the usual emote to imbue with Cursing is to change the desired curse.

This is one part of a few minor changes to the lore that I think would benefit those using it, and those going up against it/interacting with it.

I really like this new amendment! I've always felt that for taking an entire slot, it didn't change too much.

After the emote is spent for imbuing the fire with the second curse, does this last for only that one cast? Or would it be considered the new default for the rest of the encounter? And if so, would this continue to be the default for future encounters until switched back?

The intent is for switching the curse to work as things did originally, with it lasting for that one cast

When the Inferi re-write is accepted, will Inferi have their malflame permanently imbued with the malice they chose, given they only get 1, or will they be able to switch at will to other Cursed Malflame?

In addition, as far as I can tell you cant apply cursed fire to anything combustive or solid - how would that interact with permanently cursed fire?

Under the current iteration of the lore, and with this, it only applies to the cursing subtype of naztherak and wouldn't apply to inferi as far as I know (I suppose that's up to ST)

EDIT: Honestly cursed fire isn't very powerful when it comes to in the moment combat, and this is a straight buff to cursed fire to make the slot more appealing.

This would nullify that redline entirely, and that is intentional. I would also be open if the ST were to say that making something combustive or solid would take away its cursed properties, but never in my life have I seen cursed fire being the tipping point in a CRP.

LT felt this too OP.
