It took two months for this new metagaming policy to devolve into ppl sharing vaguely incriminating chatlogs to try and get their friends banned - which is, admittedly, an impressive streak for the Lord of the Craft.

I don't see the point of these stupid bans for metaplay at all. Metagaming does damage in roleplay and should be redressed in roleplay. If someone metagames to win a war you should hit their realm capital with a meteor. If someone metagames to make their character the King said character should asphyxiate on a big chicken leg while his Courtiers stand around unwilling to save him. Et cetera. Et cetera. You could probably even make these into interesting and thematically relevant RP scenarios, but various small misfortunes should happen to people who metagame and are caught; an inexorable idiot chaos factor that counteracts any advantages they might have.

For a bunch of roleplayers you guys are surprisingly allergic to a simple "yes, and." Everything has to be taken out of character, rules-lawyered, argued about, and heckin updooted on the forums. I have no idea if the ban is deserved in specific because there's a preamble on "Roleplay Leaders and their Expectations;" My eyes glaze over at the unnecessarily formal definitions of 'metaplay,' 'roleplay leader,' etc. and this prevents me from actually reading what the rules are.

But apparently no one has thought to simply remove misbehaving nation leaders from their ill-gotten gains with countervailing bullshit RP, or to deal with the alleged roleplay terrorists and the nations harboring them in the sphere where they actually exist, which is Aevos. Instead we need to ban people the Admins don't like, then listen to them bow and scrape to get unbanned, the exact same thing we've been doing for 10 years to no positive effect. Give it a try. The next time you catch someone skirting the boundaries of acceptable roleplay, kill their character in an interesting and story-advancing way.

Sensible idea. Lets see if they consider implementing it.

Lotc is not a democracy, or a popularity contest. Thankfully so because otherwise players who break the rules but are insulated by their “good reputations” would be free to do so with impunity. Said player has broken countless rules over the years, and this certainly isn’t the first time he has done out of character plotting, the ban is well deserved and should have come sooner. The only problem is that they gave him an appeal date.

I don’t know the circumstances of the ban. Maybe they are justifiable for the punishment, maybe they arnt. Not for me to say.

What I can say is that despite people around me often ridiculing mick, I judge someone off my own personal interactions. I first role played with mick on my first ever lotc persona, where his and my persona became casual friends. Oocly, mick helped me immensely by showing me how to do his skinning technique with more than just a lightness increase and decrease. He taught me how to hue shift, saturation changes, color theory with shadows, etc. he didn’t have to, but he did and spent time to make sure I knew what he was talking about. I respect someone who helps out another person they hardly know, to no benefit of their own.
