Bad Guy or Not?

To understand a bit of where I am going to come from here watch the following clip provided up to 0:49. Listen to what Zangief says around 0:46-0:48

——————————————————————————————-

Now that you’ve watched the clip provided (I hope) we can get to the point of this post. This is aimed at darkspawn players and those who fight them mainly but who knows maybe you could use this too someday in someway.

Just because you are the bad guy doesn’t mean you are a bad guy. I know this seems obvious but I feel it needs to be said. Simply because you play a bad natured individual doesn’t make you a bad natured person for playing them, that is unless you are purposefully playing them to troll or do low quality rp or in real life you are some scum. But what does this really mean?

It is simple really. If you have a character that can be considered a “villian” then you have put yourself as a new type of narrative device. Everyone is a narrative device in some way, but this is the path you have taken and are walking and you are not alone on it. You must remember that actions have consequences and to take those consequences with grace since this is just a pixel game you choose to play. What you do affects not only you but mostly everyone else involved, make it worth for such consequences to happen instead of some low quality slop like you walk into a city, try to stab people, and get smacked after 20 minutes of arguing in #looc. Thats just a waste of not only your time and dignity but that of other’s. Respect your victims and those you also brought into the situation and what follows it.

But back to the base point. One of the best things you can do when playing a “villain” here is to remember how you act. Treat someone with respect since they are giving their irreplaceable time to you and you give your’s to them. So make it worth that time you won’t get back and give each other an interaction to remember favorably. There will be highs and lows and we can’t always control how each-other act and react but we can always do our best to stay civil and respectful of each-other. And remember, just because you play a bad guy doesn’t mean you are a bad guy.

[feel free to drop criticism and etc in the comments if you have something to say. I want to hear as much as I can from others. Sorry if my format is just out of order I had this idea in my head for a while and just wanted to get it down]

all of my irp enemies are oocly evil and should be banned.

the absolute TRUTH aside, Crp, when between players, is never player vs player.
it is Co-op. make a story with em.
thank you turbo underscore dog.

It is easy to brush off posts like this as stating the obvious, but it is still valuable to repeat that the lord of the craft (the premium roleplay experience) is a collaborative premium roleplay experience

I rp as a Darkspawn.

I'm not a terrible person for it but that is probably cause I don't attack people 24/7. I can hold a conversation with folks sometimes as I think it is interesting for them to get a glimpse of the psychology of a friend turned foe.

But folks the 6-8 hour crp stall of timewasting is not a move you do if you want the cool cred.

@Turbo_DogTotally agreeing with what you are saying! Hate the character they are playing, not the person playing the character.

I couldn’t agree with this more - props to you for putting it out there @Turbo_Dog! “Bad” characters or villainy characters hold an important part of the stories we are all creating, without them we’d live in some crazy utopia. That being said, I think sometimes we all forget to show our appreciation for these characters and the players behind them. It takes a bit of confidence to break the mould and play a character not everyone will like and sadly, often times the character is attributed to the players OOC personality. Big +1 from me on this post.
